The Doe Run Company is currently seeking an Accountant to assist the Division Controller and conduct accounting functions in a timely and accurate manner in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), federal and state laws, and company policy. This position is located at our Buick Resource Recycling Division in Boss, MO.

This position offers a competitive base pay and is eligible for the Company variable pay (bonus) plan.  Benefits start first day and include insurance, paid time off, and various customer discount programs. 

 

Responsibilities:


  1. Month-end closing and/or reconciling of accounts as assigned by Division Controller, including but not limited to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Prepaid Assets, Depletion, Inspection Fees, Sales and Use tax liabilities, and Travel Advance.

  2. Process requisition approvals by ensuring proper coding for GAAP, sales/use tax accrual, and company policy.

  3. Prepare journal entries to General Ledger for timely and accurate recording of monthly financial results and maintain analysis and reconciliation of various general ledger accounts.

  4. Research and instruct others in areas related to Sales and Use Tax.

  5. Assist the Division Controller in the budgeting process.

  6. Assist quarterly internal reporting and fulfill bank or external audit requests.

  7. Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

  • At least 1 years’ experience in financial and cost accounting and/or audit

  • Experience with sales and use tax in a manufacturing setting

  • Experience analyzing billing and invoicing using a complex billing structure

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:


  • Knowledge and application of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)

  • Knowledge of revenue recognition principles

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Strong computer skills, including Adaptive, MS Office suite PeopleSoft, DataServ and SharePoint

  • Effective organizational and time management skills

Work Environment, Lifting & Physical Requirements:


  • Work is generally performed in a standard office setting.

  • Regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, use repetitive motion, talk and hear.

  • Requires clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more.

  • May be required to lift up to 5 pounds.
