TITLE: Program of Distinction Virtual Content & Extension Technology Developer DEPARTMENT: College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources REPORTS TO: Chair, School of Aquaculture and Aquatic Sciences  CLASSIFICATION: Staff-12 months EFFECTIVE DATE: TBD STANDARD WORK HOURS: 37.5 hours per week EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-Time  EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION: Exempt   JOB SUMMARY:   This position works directly with Faculty to design, create, and implement online extension videos/grant funded research videos associated with the School of Aquaculture and Aquatic Science.    The individual will manage the POD digital library, maintain and update online videos used for extension in various formats. They will provide videography/photography for aquaculture research projects, operate and maintain both the KSU aquaculture website and virtual networks, coordinate development and create all side video projects including “How To” videos.      ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:   

  • Consult with and advise faculty for online instructional design and curriculum development for extension/grant funded videos.  

  • Advise and instruct individuals regarding equipment, technology, teaching methods, technical support for classes dependent on distance learning. 

  • Design, create and edit online video-based applications.  

  • Operate Canon video recording devices and Tandberg HD teleconference unit. 

  • Edit video using Final Cut, Motions, & Compressor software.  

  • Liaison with campus for video production needs and events.  

  • Work internet servers and video links.  

  • Virtual content development, graphics design: develop instructional tutorials, presentations, and support materials for faculty and students.  

  • Design and distribute brochures among prospective students & stakeholders.  

  • Produce instructional and informational posts for public distribution and social  networks.  

  • Webmaster for KSU Aquaculture web site.  

  • Perform website diagnostics and design. 

  • Submit technical specifications for grants.  

  • Run all aspects of social virtual accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok). 

  • Provide photography support for research & extension projects. 

  • Assist students with development of poster presentation of research for professional meetings. 

  • Manage data library/storage for all virtual content.

  • Order and update technology as needed (cameras, computers, data storage, wires, connectors, projectors, etc.). 
  • Have administrative rights from Information Technology to assist is computer technology needs.  KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:   
  • Knowledge of distance learning technologies and experience using online platforms.  

  • Ability to edit and convert video to multiple formats.  

  • Proficient knowledge of aquaculture practices and concepts.  

  • Sensitivity to diversity issues related to effective communication and interaction with persons from diverse cultures, social backgrounds, experience levels and ages.  

  • Production skills using graphics/audio/video packages such as PowerPoint, Photoshop, Final Cut, Motions, Compressor and Keynote.  

  • Familiarity around various social platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TicTok, YouTube). 

  • Excellent written, oral and electronic communication skills.  

  • Capacity to efficiently organize and multitask.  

  • Proficient with Mac and Windows based operating systems.  

  • Able to properly use both still and video cameras (Canon, Insta-360, etc.)

  • Knowledge of apple software such as Pages (Brochures / Posters)
  •   SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:  
  • This position does have supervisory responsibility.

  •   QUALIFICATIONS:  Minimum Bachelors of Science, Masters of Science preferred. Degree(s) in Aquaculture, Agriculture, or Agricultural Communications with training in aquaculture for communication of aquaculture principles and practices.  Candidates need familiarity with instructional design and online learning.  Video editing and multimedia experience is a plus.   Licensing and Certifications: NA   WORKING CONDITIONS:   
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
