SUMMARY OF ROLE
The Hydro Project Engineer, or System Engineer, bridges the boundaries between engineering and project management, leading the technical activities as a whole with the Engineering, Procurement and Installation teams. This position is the primary technical point of contact for the project team and reports to the Project Manager in the team context.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES:
Primary responsibilities are listed but not limited to the following: Responsible for the related costs, delivery schedule, quality and targets of the System ("System" means generator and auxiliaries, turbine and auxiliaries, penstock, gates, electrical power systems or any other assigned systems);
Participation in the creation of the overall time schedule and work breakdown structure.
Creation of the Purchase Order Requisition and participation in negotiations with suppliers.
Responsible for the general scope determination and for managing and following up the supply of the process from conceptualizing the design to delivery of the components to site
Responsible for validating and approving the supplier production schedules;
Responsible for the technical clarifications with customer and supplier;
Responsible for organizing design review meetings and the manufacturing kick-off;
Elaborate, collect and assess the documentation required and veto technical dispositions in case of deviations (cost, schedule, quality);
Assemble and submittal of technical deliverables;
Organizes and facilitates meetings regarding technical activities;
Ensures stakeholders interpret the technical specification and expectations correctly, contract based concept;
Consolidates the opinions of others to define the technical strategy and the supply plan in collaboration with the Project Manager and the Procurement Department;
Participates in the selection, negotiations and technical discussions of the main suppliers and sub-contractors;
Responsible for making sure engineering deliverables and supply deliveries are made on-time and according to established quality criteria for the related System;
Follows-up on Non-Conformances and Change Management with the customer, vendors and engineering;
In collaboration with the Project Manager, analyzes, defines and implements a contingency plan to correct any issues or deviations that can have an impact on their projects.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor of Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred
Minimum 5 years of experience
Minimum 3 years of experience in the fields of hydroelectricity and related design and manufacturing activities;
Experience in technical coordination of engineering activities and subcontracting;
Good verbal and written communication.
Competencies:
Experience in manufacturing or heavy industrial design.
3D / 2D CAD proficiency designed
