Do you like to work for a passionate culture of creativity and innovation that rapidly converts ideas into value? Do like to work on all product stages from research and development to design and manufacture, through to installation and integration? If so, come join our growing community of engineers who own close to 500 Global Patents as part of the OMAX Waterjet design engineering team.
Essential responsibilities of this role include:
Design and develop ultra-high pressure components and systems for abrasive waterjet cutting (e.g. direct drive and intensifier pumps, nozzles, cutting heads, fluid conveyance methods)
Utilize "best practice" design approaches including tolerance analysis, DFMA, DFMEA to produce optimal designs
Create well drafted test plans and conduct peer reviews pre and post test execution
Conduct and analyze hands-on scientific experiments using prototyping, design of experiments (DOE), and statistical analysis
Communicate and collaborate with engineers, managers, and technicians
Collaborate with marketing and operations to deliver compelling products and cutting solutions
Who you are and the experience you will bring:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, Physics or similar discipline.
5-8 years of product engineering experience, or equivalent
High level of organization, creativity, and self-motivation
Willingness to seek and obtain peer review to improve design solutions
Ability to define, execute, and document engineering tests and characterize the performance, usability, and reliability of design solutions
Experience with engineering instrumentation such as flow measurements, thermal measurements, pressure measurements, oscilloscopes, and data acquisition systems/software
Proficiency with computer-aided design (CAD)
Knowledge of statistical tools, DOE, FMEA, Design for Assembly/Sustainability, and problem-solving techniques
Ability to work with engineering technicians and provide them written and/or verbal guidance

An advanced degree (Masters/PhD) in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, or related areas is highly desirable
Design and analysis experience in compliance with ASME BPVC Section VIII Div 3
Modeling proficiency with ANSYS modules for FEA and CFD
Experience developing new products and concepts in coordination with a multi-disciplinary team (marketing, supply chain or other engineering disciplines)
Deep comprehension and hands-on application of fluid dynamics, physics, and metallurgical properties (including fatigue & fracture mechanics) highly desired
Experience recommending design changes, cost reductions, warranty/manufacturing improvements
Experience improving product reliability, cost, and functionality
Experience working with product life-cycle management (PLM) systems
Experience with ASME Y14.5 GD&T dimensional/tolerance practices
