The Plumber is responsible for performing all plumbing trades functions necessary to assemble, install, maintain, and repair fixtures, equipment, and systems related to the facility. This position is responsible for the preventative and reactive maintenance needs of the facility as it relates to plumbing infrastructure. The plumber will be required to possess and maintain a Journeyman Plumbers License from the State of Michigan.
Essential Job Duties:
Assembles, installs, and repairs pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems according to specifications and plumbing codes.
Studies building plans and drawings to determine work aids required and sequence of installations.
Inspects structure to ascertain obstructions to be avoided to prevent weakening of structure resulting from installation of pipe.
Locates and marks position of pipe and pipe connections and passage holes for pipes in walls and floors, using ruler, spirit level, and plumb bobs
Cuts openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings, using hand tools and power tools.
Cuts and threads pipe using pipe cutters, cutting torches, and pipe-threading machine.
Bends pipe to required angles.
Works from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications
Unloading and carrying materials to the jobsite
Assisting with the installation of pipe and fittings for copper, cast iron, and PVC/CPVC pipes, and for drain, sewer, and gas lines.
Utilizing hand tools and cutters to cut pipe to desired lengths and electric and hand threaders to thread pipe.
Installing fittings and components above and inground
Locates and diagnoses trouble in the plumbing systems or equipment.
Document actions, testing results, observations, final diagnosis of the situation and steps taken to resolve issues for each job or situation.
Repair plumbing issues by replacing or installing components.
Determine the steps necessary to assess an electrical situation using testing devices, blueprints and maps.
Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all company guidelines and OSHA safety requirements and through reporting violations of policies, procedures and guidelines to the immediate Supervisor.
Answer emergency calls quickly, assess the safety of the situation upon arriving at the scene and provide directions to individuals affected.
Maintain equipment to ensure it is in good condition and can operate or be used safely; report any issues to immediate Supervisor.
Other duties as assigned.
Skills, Education and Experience:
Journeyman Plumbers License in MI
Hands-on plumbing experience in a commercial or industrial setting.
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Ability to read, write, and speak English.
Knowledge of water distribution systems, drains, plumbing systems, sprinkler systems, etc.
Certification in Backflow Prevention maintenance, testing, and repair - preferred but not required
Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of coworkers and government stakeholders.
Knowledge of computers and basic computer applications.
Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics.
Ability to effectively complete tasks in a team setting or independently.
Ability to effectively utilize resources to maximize productivity.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to work cooperatively in a team

Salary: $28/hr. - $34/hr.
The hourly rate is between $28.00 and $34.00 per hour, and the anticipated annual base compensation range for this position will be $66,560- $74,880 inclusive of required overtime
