Position Summary:


THIS IS A TIME-LIMITED POSITION WITH AN ESTIMATED DURATION OF 3 YEARS.

The Community Engagement Manager will work closely with the Project Director, Project Manager, Project Assistant, Data Manager, two Nurse Coordinators, and graduate research assistants who comprise the Administrative Core. This position will primarily coordinate with the co-investigators leading the Community Engagement Core to plan and execute workplans, achieve project milestones, and produce high-quality deliverables. The manager will provide leadership to graduate research assistants assigned to the Community Engagement Core by appropriately delegating tasks and responsibilities, and by providing constructive feedback and guidance. Additionally, this individual will collaborate with members of the Administrative Core to co-develop patient and clinic-facing education materials and support the day-to-day operations of the ACHIEVE study. Finally, the Community Engagement Manager will actively nurture and manage the ACHIEVE Coalition, which includes research team members, prenatal care clinic providers and staff, patients, and representatives from community-based organizations. This role also involves leading the development and continued engagement of two Patient Action Groups (PAGs), a Spanish-speaking PAG and a Black-identifying PAG. Duties include: Outreach Recruiting community-based organizations, advocates, and patients who have experienced high blood pressure during pregnancy to serve on the ACHIEVE Coalition and/or Patient Action Groups. Monitor coalition and PAG member attendance at meetings and encourage participation and engagement as needed.Communicating with potential and current community partners regarding the vision, mission, goals, and objectives of ACHIEVE. Leading coordination activities and the facilitation of patient engagement and participatory research activities.Contributing to community-facing content on the ACHIEVE website and quarterly project newsletters and provide advisement on communications using a community engagement and health equity lens. Administrative: Coordinating with the Administrative Core personnel to complete subcontract and independent contractor paperwork and invoices, and to plan the Community Engagement Core's annual budget. Draft budget justifications and budget modification requests as needed.Planning and coordinating ACHIEVE's Coalition and PAG meetings and events, both virtual and in-person.Contributing to the monthly and annual reports to sponsors by providing detailed summaries of PAG and Coalition activities, efforts to recruit and engage individual and organizational partners, and the development of community/patient education materials.Collaborating with the Administrative Core to plan and execute the dissemination of data collection surveys to PAG and Coalition members, and to collect other community engagement-related data as part of the ACHIEVE study protocol. Overseeing the planning and execution of the Community Engagement Core's workplan, coordinating within the Community Engagement Core and across other ACHIEVE cores to achieve project milestones and ensure high-quality deliverables are produced on time, with support from the Community Engagement Core leads and the Project Coordinator. Traveling to local in-person meetings with community members, the ACHIEVE coalition,, and study personnel. Occasionally supporting on-site events at study clinics as needed by gathering informed consent, assisting with event setup, and recording attendance.


Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the field assigned and one year of related training or experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.


Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

Required qualifications: Experience in community engagement role or setting.


Required competencies: Comfortable working in an ethnically, culturally, and racially diverse environment. Excellent collaboration, relationship-building, and interpersonal communication skills. Fluency in MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams) and other project-related software. Demonstrated ability to work under broad direction with considerable initiative. Strong interpersonal skills.


Required experience includes: Coordinating and planning projects. Recruiting community organizations or members to participate in research projects. Meeting facilitation and event planning. Navigating research protocols and processes such as scheduling interviews and obtaining informed consent. Maintaining documentation on community engagement activities for planning and reporting purposes.


Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

Preferred Qualifications: Dedication to public health research; an interest in or familiarity with health equity. Previous research experience and/or familiarity with community-engaged research. Experience translating research concepts into understandable, accessible lay language. Content expertise in maternal and child health.
Preferred Competencies: Skilled in collaborating with a range of academic and community partners from diverse backgrounds. Experience collaborating in an interdisciplinary environment and coordinating across multiple internal and external teams.


Preferred Experience: Working as part of a large, complex study team with multiple internal and external partners. Writing for diverse audiences.
