Job Responsibilities

The Machine Tool Technology Instructor position will work under minimal instruction/supervision within the guidelines established by the Dean of Manufacturing and Maintenance. The duties will include course development, teaching courses, designing and developing curriculum, providing a systematic plan for delivering instruction, evaluating student performance and advising students. Assists with student recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts. Other job requirements include, but are not limited to, attention to work quality, details and deadlines; working with work-study students and supervising live work projects with students; and working with minimum supervision.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

This position requires an associate degree and four (4) years of work experience at an advanced skill level in precision machine shop operations, or a high school diploma and six (6) years of work experience at an advanced skill level in precision machine shop operations required.

Preferred Qualifications

An associate degree in machine tool technology or a closely related field plus a minimum of two (4) years work experience or a high school diploma and ten (10) years work experience to include machinist training and teaching theory and application of: manual lathe and mill, safety, blueprint reading/sketching, precision measurements, metallurgy, and CNC/CAD-CAM programming preferred. Practical knowledge and experience in all machining processes listed above. Must be able to track purchase requisitions and other budget/shipping/receiving documents. Strong communication, interpersonal and customer service skills are essential. Must be able to successfully pass a machining skills test in all processes of the program. The candidate must be able to function in an environment characterized by continual changes, policies and laws in the field of education.
