About the Job

We are looking for a Veterans Support & Outreach Specialist to join our team in Medford, Oregon. The Veterans Support & Outreach Specialist will assist veterans with housing searched, rental applications and requirements, HUD/alternative subsidy applications, benefits systems, public transportation, employment searches and applications, along with other related activities that help veterans with self-sufficiency. They will help veterans maintain residence and learn the skills to become as independent as possible in the community. The Veterans Support & Outreach Specialist position requires frequent travel with Jackson County, which will include visiting community sites or areas where homeless persons gather, such as shelters and soup kitchens, to locate veterans.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm (Full Time, Day). This position will be on an on-call from 5:00pm to 8:00am.

What You’ll Make

$20.00 - $24.00 per hour DOE/Credentials.

Additional 5% Language Differential offered for Bilingual or Multilingual candidates (Spanish/English desired).

About the Program

The Veterans Resource Center connects Veterans and their families with the services they need –The VRC is focused on the overall wellness and reintegration of Military Veterans of all eras. With a primary focus on housing assistance, access to treatment, case management, and outreach, we take a holistic approach to addressing the individual needs of each Veteran. We invite all community partners to utilize the VRC as we combine efforts and collaborate to help those we serve. The VRC will serve as a single-entry point to provide the help Veterans need by forming a coordinated network of community partners. (Jackson County).

ColumbiaCare Services is a qualifying employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program.

What You’ll Need

  • TWO (2) years of experience working with homeless veterans in a supportive role and familiarity with community resources is preferred.
  • Willing to utilize their lived experience to assist our veterans in working towards independent living. Veteran candidates preferred.


Driving is an essential function of the position. Successful applicants MUST also have a valid Oregon driver’s license, maintain a safe driving record, and have the ability to pass a DHS criminal background check.


Physical Requirements: This position requires the ability to frequently talk, listen, use hands and fingers, sit, stand, walk, reach; as well as lift, carry, push, and pull up to 40 pounds. It may require the ability to occasionally climb stairs and ladders, bend, stoop, squat/kneel, and perform other physical tasks as applicable. In addition, you must successfully completecrisisde-escalation and CPR trainings, which require performing various physical, hands-on maneuvers and techniques. Reasonable accommodations can be made.
