Dura-Line is growing fast, and we are currently hiring a talented and knowledge-driven Polymer R&D Scientist at our Clinton, TN lab. We are in search of someone that has a willingness to learn and is capable of handling technical ambiguity and is resilient to change in directions. They should possess excellent analytical & problem-solving skills and develop their perspective on making measurements and interpreting experimental data.

What can you expect in a Compensation Analyst role at Dura-Line?


  • Research and develop new products and technologies for the conduit market using knowledge in polymer chemistry, science, and engineering
  • Maintain housekeeping and EHSS in the labs and workspace to the highest industry standards
  • Provide technical support/leadership to Dura-Line Global in all materials-related projects/issues including customer complaints and manufacturing issues
  • Prepare written technical reports and or presentations on projects for external and internal customers. Occasionally may be called upon to present results to business management.
  • Coordinate and conduct manufacturing trials for new materials/formulations production scale up/commercialization
  • Liaise with external Certification Agencies, e.g. UL, ETL, NSF, etc. whenever warranted
  • Develop and document testing protocols/procedures/specifications for new materials/products/processing
  • Investigate improvements in the formulation capability of existing products identified by stakeholders

What does Dura-Line need from you?


  • A bachelor's degree in Polymer, Plastics, Chemical, Packaging, Material Science, Engineering is required. A Masters or Ph. D in any of the fields mentioned is preferred. ***Please be prepared to provide unofficial transcripts if you are chosen to proceed to the final onsite interview.
  • Proficient English in oral communication and writing.
  • 1 - 3 years of direct industry experience or in a research laboratory. Experience and Knowledge in polymer processing like extrusion, twin screw compounding. Hands-on and theoretical knowledge of polymer characterization methods/tools like thermal analysis (DSC, TGA, DMA, TMA) rheology, spectroscopy (FTIR, Microscopy), physical properties testing (Tensile, density, MFI). Good working knowledge on thermal plastic polymers like Polyethylene . Good working knowledge of statistical analysis. Familiarity with computer programs like Minitab for statistics, Onshape for CAD is a plus as well as computer programming with Python.)
  • Physical requirements for the position such as mobility, vision, strength, etc. (applicable in line with local laws): Must be able to lift boxes weighing up to 50 lb.
