Position Overview




Cumulus Media | (Atlanta, GA) has an immediate, hybrid-remote opening for a Staff Accountant located at our corporate headquarters in Atlanta, GA. The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the Director of Accounting in carrying out the duties of the department. This position is also responsible for preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and detailed reports. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal and excellent communication skills, written and verbal, as well as outstanding organizational skills.


Key Responsibilities & Qualifications




Responsibilities:



  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.

  • Ensure an accurate and timely month-end, quarterly, and year-end financial close.

  • Coordinate and execute all month-end close activities based on the close schedule.

  • Assist the Senior Staff Accountant and Director of Accounting with daily financial information requirements.

  • Prepare and gather supporting documentation and explanations for monthly financial reporting, budgeting/forecasts, and analysis for Senior Management review and follow up on any open items.

  • Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, supporting workpapers, accruals/re-classes, and variance analysis.

  • Log and deposit checks received in-office.

  • Apply cash received and assist in researching unapplied cash receipts.

  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.

  • Analyze corporate expenses, including comparisons to budget, and trend results.

  • Respond to inquiries from Senior Management, internal and external auditors, regarding financial results and special reporting requests.

  • Support Director of Accounting with special projects

  • Manage workload and prioritize job tasks to meet deadlines.

  • Comply with corporate policies and procedures.

  • Comply with US GAAP, COSO, and SOX in concert with our internal controls.

  • Interface with management in various departments.

  • Other duties, as assigned.




Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field required.

  • 1-3 years accounting experience, with the month-end close processing experience preferred.

  • Must be detail oriented, with good time management skills.

  • Proven ability to handle confidential information.

  • Able to work independently and manage workload - prioritizing job tasks to meet deadlines.

  • Working knowledge/use of general ledger software helpful; experience with Great Plains and/or WideOrbit preferred.

  • Regular use of high-intermediate Excel functions (pivot tables, Vlookups, formulas/macros) preferred.
