Position Summary
The Laboratory Associate will perform support tasks necessary to ensure the timely release of product in one or more of the laboratories: Biology, Environmental, Chemical or Incoming (BQ/EQ/CQ//IQ).

Perform daily tasks to prepare the laboratory for product testing and ensure the laboratory is returned to ready condition at the end of the work day. Perform simple clerical duties such as ordering, data entry and assisting with the flow of paperwork in the laboratory.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Daily room inspection, glassware cleaning and restocking, ordering and tracking of supplies, maintaining inventory levels, hazardous waste removal, sample pick up and log in, filing, material recycling, and routine SOP and batch record edits.
Database entry, ensuring accurate records to facilitate the tracking and trending of invalid data (DID), investigations, and Laboratory KPI data.
Assist all laboratories by ensuring that the work areas remain stocked and organized and by handling paperwork flow as directed by the area supervisor or senior technician.
Interface with other departments on a regular basis regarding sample receipt and the reporting/recording of testing data. (Not limited to MQ and IQ; will also deal with manufacturing, validations and maintenance).
Adhere to cGMP's, SOP's and plant policies/guidelines.
Prepare test equipment and reagents.
Proactively support laboratory safety and GMP/GLP practices.
Resolve problems encountered such as: missing samples or paperwork, release deadlines, ordering delays and schedule conflicts.
The individual will generate data from standard reports which will be used to track and trend laboratory events such as release rates, invalidated data or laboratory investigations.
Perform other related duties as assigned or required.

Knowledge & Skills
Must be able to read, write and understand English and have basic computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.
Must be able to communicate effectively with personnel from other departments and to recognize job related problems as they occur.
Must be able to use simple mathematics (add, subtract, multiply, divide) to solve routine problems.
Must be organized and take initiative; responding quickly to laboratory needs as they arise.
Must have time management skills/judgment to be able to deal with multiple tasks at one time.

Minimum Qualifications, Education & Experience
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must be able to read, write and understand English and have basic computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.

Work Environment
Work to achieve operational targets or service standards.
A high degree of tact and diplomacy is necessary in dealing with internal customers. Persistence and resilience are necessary to complete assigned tasks.
May have to determine how to carry out tasks as assigned by Investigators, Supervisors, and/or Managers.
Work will primarily be in a laboratory setting which will require proper laboratory safety personal protective equipment (PPE).
Occasionally required to lift 20 - 40 lbs unassisted.
Must be able to work flexible schedules, including overtime, in response to work demand.
Typically requires travel less than 5% of the time
