Northwest Federal Credit Union is seeking qualified interns for our paid Summer Internship Program at our Corporate Office in Herndon, VA. Our summer internship program is designed to provide college students the opportunity to learn about Northwest Federal and gain meaningful, hands-on experience in a professional environment that aligns with their career goals. This is an 8-week internship program starting in June 2025.
Northwest Financial Advisors is a registered investment advisor (RIA) firm wholly owned by Northwest Federal Credit Union. Northwest Financial Advisors assist their clients with making decisions about assets including financial investments, insurance planning, estate planning, and other financial matters. Their goal is to help clients achieve financial security and grow and protect their assets with financial planning by developing investment strategies tailored to each client's goals and risk tolerance. The Financial Services Intern will provide direct support to the Wealth and Financial Advisors by providing administrative support for their daily business practices.
Responsibilities
Gain industry and organizational knowledge through daily business interactions and job assignments
Develop business, financial and analytical skills needed for a career in global wealth management and financial services
Provide sales support to advisors and their teams
Perform market research
Plan team marketing events and material
Gain exposure to wealth management business, products, services and clients' financial needs
Remains cognizant of and adheres to NWFCU policies and procedures as well as regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)
Qualifications
Must be enrolled in a credited university at the junior or senior level in pursuit of a degree in Finance or Business Studies
Average 3.0 GPA (transcripts required)
Required to be available for our 8-week session from June through August
Must be available to work the hours of 8:00am - 4:30pm Monday through Friday
LPL fingerprinting required before official start date
Ability to work on-site in our Herndon, VA Headquarters
Ability to use standard office equipment and systems; working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products, especially Word and Excel
Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization and/or the public
Strong collaboration and relationship building skills
Strong desire to gain further understanding of the wealth management business at NWFA
Accuracy and attention to detail
