Job Description:

ERM is hiring a Sr. Process Safety/WHS Consultant in Southern California, Nevada, or Utah areas.  This is an excellent career opportunity to work with an expert consulting team on challenging safety and risk projects for large global client. Access to ERM's international risk management experts provide knowledge sharing of best practices across the industry and on-going learning opportunities for our team.   This is a full-time (40 hours/week), fixed-term role for a duration of 3 months.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Implements existing safety strategy that aligns with existing policies, organization’s objectives and regulatory requirements.  This includes Occupational Safety, OSHA Recordkeeping, Process Safety Management (PSM), and Risk Management Program (RMP).


  • Interfaces with federal, state, and local regulators during audits, reviews, and/or to proactively drives compliance with requirements.


  • Promote existing behavior-based safety initiatives throughout the organization.


  • Lead incident investigations that follow company policies and industry best practices. Ensure accurate reporting, root cause analysis, and implementation of preventative measures. 


  • Provides regular reports on safety performance, compliance, and areas for improvement.


  • Perform safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and risks.  Complete gap analysis for relevant PSM and/or Engineering standards.


  • Gather and analyze information on identified process safety related gaps and risks (to include CAPAs).


  • Develop solution designs to close the gaps and mitigate risks.


  • Manage internal and external resources through the implementation of the approved solutions.


  • Engage and manage 3rd parties, where appropriate (develop Request for Proposal, review and challenge proposals, agree deliverables, monitor progress).


  • Ensure plans and budget for your area are kept up to date.


  • Ensure that staff is sufficiently trained to safely perform their duties / arrange relevant training.


  • Travel to other facilities in California, Nevada, and Utah.


REQUIREMENTS:


  • 8 + years of experience in process safety.


  • Bachelors in technical field, engineering, safety, or related field required.


  • Experience with development of written Process Safety Management (PSM) programs, Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), including Hazard Identification (HAZID) and Hazard Operability (HazOp), Mechanical Integrity (MI) evaluations, change management and operational readiness reviews, etc.


  • Broad EHS background and capabilities.


  • Five or more years of experience leading the Safety function within an organization, including supervision of others, policy development, and report development, preferred.


  • Five or more years of experience leading the Safety function within an organization, including supervision of others, policy development, and report development, preferred.


  • General understanding of basic risk assessment and process safety management principles.


  • Strong client relationship skills.


  • Excellent verbal, writing, meeting facilitation and computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).


  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation.

Pay Transparency:

For the Sr. Process Safety/WHS Consultant position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $132,050– $148,526, $63.48/hr – $71.40/hr, limited-term, non-exempt.  An employee’s pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.  We also may have instances where employee’s fall outside of the range based on the factors noted above.  This job may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/Flexforce employees are NOT bonus eligible).
