JOB SUMMARY
The Bio-Med Technician performs maintenance and repair duties associated with SCHCs equipment management protocols under the direction of the Facilities Manager. The Bio-Med Technician is the front line employee who is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all patient care equipment within the Health Center. This position is also responsible for the set up and organization of all equipment in the Quality Control Program.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responds to pages and messages in a timely fashionMaintains a clean and well organized work areaCompletes, organizes and prioritizes planned and corrective maintenance with documentation as assignedExhibits the technical skills required to service and maintain medical equipment within the clinical settingAssures timely and appropriate response to equipment service requests and tracks and communicates the progress and completion of repairs to both the clinical staff and managementEnsures that all appropriate service documentation is accurately completed in accordance with SCHC policyInputs planned maintenance and service information in the SCHC system as policy requiresCommunicates pertinent information to Health Center staff, facilities staff, and the Facilities Manager. Ensures that all information required for SCHC and the clinical staff is available to accomplish SCHCs mission in a proactive and cost effective approachUnderstands the needs of the clinical staff and works to ensure that the SCHC Quality Control Program is viewed as an integral and important asset to SCHC staffWorks professionally and proactively with all SCHC staff toward the common goals of achieving SCHCs MissionOther duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Effective time management skills. Ability to troubleshoot, read schematics, and/or blue prints. Thorough understanding of all required duties and responsibilities. Knowledge of medical equipment maintenance processes and methods. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Working knowledge of tools, common appliances and devices. Manual dexterity and problem-solving skills.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Two years experience in the field of Bio-Medical instrumentation service and maintenance. High school diploma or equivalent.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Associate degree in Biomedical Technology or equivalent or working towards this goal.
