Job Description:

Parent & Family Programs (PFP) partners with the parents and families of currently enrolled students to provide resources, education, and opportunities to make students’ success a reality.  The PFP Office is the central resource and contact point for families located domestically and abroad who send students to the University of Oklahoma.  Our goals are to:



  • Provide a bridge between families and the University community

  • Offer helpful resources and information that can assist parents and families as the “consultant” to their student

  • Present special events that welcome families to campus throughout the year

  • Provides the parents, guardians and other supporters of University of Oklahoma students an opportunity to learn more about the organization and policies of the university

  • Brings about closer cooperation between students, parents, faculty, administrative officials and Regents of the university

  • Provides an organization through which parents may collectively organize their efforts in support of students and their educational experience

  • Provides an agency through which authorities of the university may more effectively present objectives, aims and needs to the public at large


This position will also provide support for Student Affairs initiatives including programming, event coordination, and outreach opportunities.


Responsibilities:



  • Providing assistance with parental and student requests.

  • Assisting with social media promotion and engagement for PFP and Sooner Parents.

  • Coordinating outreach efforts to educate others about the services of PFP and Sooner Parents.

  • Creating presentations, newsletters, graphics, informational materials about PFP and Sooner Parents.

  • Representing PFP and Sooner Parents at various events by promoting services to faculty and staff by tabling at university events and providing group presentations.

  • Planning and coordinating events for PFP and Sooner Parents.

  • Using curricular approach when planning events, compiling assessment data, and modifying and improving programs and procedures based on assessment data.  Providing data to division-wide assessment coordinator.

  • Coordinating the activities between projects for PFP and Sooner Parents and and other programs on the national or state level.

  • Interfacing with university departments, funding sources, outside organizations and state/government agencies.

  • Distributing information to program staff and others. Answering questions about the program including communicating with parents and students about campus resources in one-on-one, group, and presentation settings.

  • Organizing and participating in the analysis of collected data. May perform data entry, collect, and clean data including researching SEC PFP and Sooner Parent programs to gather baseline data.

  • Assisting in the preparation of the program budget. Monitoring departmental accounts, accounts payable transactions, and spending activity. 

  • Developing proposals, negotiating and administering contracts.

  • Coordinating administrative functions such as personnel, operational matters, and other services.

  • Planning and overseeing special projects.

  • Performing various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.


 

Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree, AND:



  • 36 months of related experience. 


Equivalent/Substitution: Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree for a total of 84 months of related experience.

  • Strong composition and proofreading skills

  • Computer skills, including proficiency in navigating and maintaining a CRM

  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and outcomes.

  • Highly organized.

  • Able to handle multiple projects and deadlines.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to quickly build rapport with students, faculty, and staff.

  • Frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods.

  • Ability to create and present effective presentations to parents and families and OU faculty and staff.

  • Ability to read and interpret policy as well as State and Federal regulations.

Advertised Physical Requirements:



  • Standard office environment.  Occasional exposure to outdoor temperatures and weather.

  • Sitting for long periods of time.

  • Communicate effectively.

  • Manual dexterity.

  • Lifting over 10 lbs


Departmental Preferences:



  • Master's degree Human Relations, EDAH or similar field

  • Prior university experience

  • Experience in collegiate level parent programming
