The Senior Talent Development Manager will oversee the strategic implementation of national processes related to talent development and performance management. The role supervises a team responsible for ensuring the workforce has the knowledge, skills, and overall competency to meet the company's current and future talent needs. Additionally, the role is responsible for managing the development and delivery of National training solutions in a manner that is effective, professional, and engaging, so that the business demands and learning requirements are met. This role ensures that the company's goals are effectively translated into individual and team objectives, and performance is tracked and improved consistently. This individual works as part of the Learning & Organizational Development Team to deliver Best in Class growth opportunities for McCarthy's team members. This will be a high-impact position affecting over 3000 McCarthy partners.The position will report to the Director of Talent Development and will partner closely with the Regional Learning & Development Manager, Craft Training Instructors, Instructional Design, Technology and key stakeholders. This role requires travel to jobsites across the country as well as national meetings and training events. Expected travel for this role is 25%-50% of the time.
Core Responsibilities
Employee Development & Coaching:
Partner with total rewards, talent management, organizational development and other key stakeholders in the development of strategies related to talent and performance processes, such as: competencies, goal setting processes and engagement.
Partner with HR and Learning & Development teams to administer national programs aimed at addressing performance gaps and enhancing skills.
Drive the use of data-driven insights and feedback to foster a continuous development culture.
Manage and mentor a team of talent development advisors, setting clear goals, expectations, and responsibilities.
Provide day-to-day leadership and guidance, ensuring the team is aligned with strategic objectives and delivering high-quality work.
Conduct regular one-on-ones and performance reviews with direct reports to support their professional growth and development.
Foster a collaborative, high-performing team environment, encouraging innovation and best practices in talent development and EMC processes.
Develop the team's capabilities by identifying training and development opportunities, ensuring the team stays current with industry best practices.
Build strong relationships across departments, partnering with senior leaders, HR, and other stakeholders to ensure talent and performance processes aligns with business goals.
Use data to evaluate the effectiveness of talent and performance management programs and make recommendations for enhancements.
Serve as a change agent in implementing performance management systems and practices across the organization.
Lead team through the design and implementation of strategic learning solutions following training best practices and aligned with the organizational needs.
Drive solutions that focus on increasing core skills, capabilities, and proficiency in job roles.
Develop and formalize processes to gather learning data, analyze and communicate training effectiveness and impact.
Leads the implementation of existing competency programs to increase overall bench strength and capabilities.
Research and test various learning technologies and solutions to improve learning engagement, retention, and behavior change.
Partner with TA team to develop incoming talent and understand skills lost/skills gained to develop team and individual capabilities.
Partner with technical trainers to develop and drive solutions that focus on increasing core skills, capabilities, and proficiencies in craft roles.
Coaches team on relationship to effectively identify key business challenges and develop appropriate approach to improve learning effectiveness, support key roles, and address business needs.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (HRD, Business Administration, Learning and Development, Education, or other related field) or relevant experience in lieu of degree.
3-5 years' experience in implementation and design of performance management processes and systems.
Knowledge of adult learning theories and learning and development best practices.
3-5 years related experience developing and implementing training solutions.
Must be flexible to deliver training in a variety of formats: classroom, virtual, on-the-job, synchronous, asynchronous, etc.
3-5 years of proven experience leading teams in a matrix organization.
Ability to describe technical concepts in a way that makes them easily understandable, digestible, and relatable.
Technical aptitude and demonstrated experience leveraging learning technologies and tools that integrate with and support learning activities.
Experience demonstrating the effectiveness of learning solutions through measurement, analysis and reporting required.
Strong communication and presentation skills with proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint and other course development tools
Energy, enthusiasm and initiative to create new programs and drive national outcomes, balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
