Menasha is looking for a Web Press Assistant Operator (2nd Pressman) for our Richmond, IN facility. This position creates value by assisting in the operation of the press as well as being a backup leader for a 4 person crew. Print knowledge and demonstrated skill for set-up/running of a 75" wide Goss Sunday 3000 Vpak web press in an offset-lithography printing operation are preferred. Primary objectives are to ensure optimal production efficiencies are safely met in alignment with our internal and external customer's expectations.
Training rate: $26.32 - Qualified rate: $27.43
Key responsibilities:
Ability to perform all aspects of preparation and operation of press (e.g.,mount rolls of paper, prepare splices, thread the web through press, hang plates, load ink and coating, mount ITR print & coat blankets, establish color and maintain print quality, minimize waste)
Ability to perform all aspects of press settings (rollers, fountains, etc)
Ability to run the press in backup to the Lead Pressman (capable to achieve and maintain ink/water balance, register, perform running splices at speed, address quality issues, etc)
Ability to perform all aspects of press up-keep (routine operational or preventative maintenance, minor repairs, roller/blanket/press wash up/cleaning, etc)
Operate a clamp truck, battery powered roll pusher, pallet jack (electric and manual) or other mobile equipment
Recognize and resolve/troubleshoot quality defects with paper rolls or printed sheets
Basic Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED
Willing and able to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and/or pulling for up to twelve (12) hours a day
Willing and able to work any shift, holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed
Willing and able to work in conditions that could include hot, humid, cold, dusty, noisy
Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment
Willing and able to work in high or confined spaces
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience working in a commercial or packaging print industry
Two (2) years+ of experience working within a manufacturing or industrial environment
Two (2) years+ of experience working with a sheet fed or web printing press ; >40" preferred
Experience with energy curable inks (LED or UV)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to comply with all safety policies and procedures
Mechanical ability to troubleshoot machinery
Ability to be a contributing member of teams
Ability to follow written specifications or verbal instructions
Able to visually recognize process/unique colors for quality match of art
