The position will begin on July 1, 2025. The successful candidate is expected to hold a Ph.D. by the time of the appointment.
The successful applicant will teach courses in African-American/African Religions, with desireable subfields including (but not limited to) religion and politics, transnationalism, women and religion, and/or religions of Africa in the diaspora. The teaching load is two courses per semester. The candidate must have demonstrated the ability to maintain an active, high-quality research program and the highest standards of excellence in teaching.

and Timetable:Applications should include a cover letter; curriculum vitae; research statement; teaching statement that addresses the candidate's ability to teach, mentor, and inspire students representing a broad range of backgrounds; evidence of teaching effectiveness; and a writing sample. Applicants must also provide the names and e-mail addresses of three references, who will automatically receive an email with a link to upload their confidential recommendation letter.
Complete applications, including letters of recommendation, will be reviewed beginning November 15, 2024. The review of complete applications will continue until the position is filled. Preliminary interviews will be conducted via Zoom.
