The IU Center for Rural Engagement improves the lives of Hoosiers through collaborative initiatives that discover and deploy scalable and flexible solutions to common challenges facing rural communities. Working in full-spectrum community innovation through research, community-engaged teaching and student service, the center builds vision, harnesses assets and cultivates sustainable leadership structures within the communities with which it engages to ensure long-term success. Job Summary



The Center for Rural Engagement media asset management intern will research and catalog media assets and project deliverables into various repositories such as IU ScholarWorks, IU WCMS, and Airtable. This internship offers an excellent opportunity for students interested in library science, information management, or academic research to gain practical experience in a dynamic environment.


Department Specific Responsibilities


  • Researches historical and active projects to determine relevant media assets, reports, articles, project deliverables, and other scholarly materials.

  • Formats files and catalog assets into appropriate repositories.

  • Applies appropriate metadata standards to ensure accurate and comprehensive descriptions of all deliverables.

  • Reviews and verifies the accuracy of cataloged materials to maintain high-quality repository standards.

  • Creates and updates documentation related to cataloging processes and best practices.




Qualifications



EDUCATION



Required



  • Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University


Preferred



  • Bachelor's degree in library science, information systems, or related field in progress or completed

Working Conditions / Demands



This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

$15.00 per hour



Work Hours



10-15 hours per week depending on project volume
