Job Description:

Position Summary:

The Maintenance Supervisor I leads the skilled technical personnel in the maintenance and repair of plant machinery, tooling, equipment and building services in a safe and effective manner.

Primary Responsibilities:


  • Provides guidance, direction and training to personnel in respective areas as needed

  • Ensures all work by skilled personnel is performed in a safe manner and in accordance with OSHA and company safety standards

  • Prioritizes maintenance activities in accordance with production requirements to ensure minimal machine down time

  • Implements and maintains work orders and ensures appropriate feedback is supplied to the initiators

  • Develop and implement schedules and procedures for equipment repairs and preventative maintenance programs

  • Meets with Operations to review production downtime and other production problems, and to assist in coordination of efforts to minimize effects of problems

  • Ensures that items are available in tool crib and orders for replacement parts are submitted timely

  • Ensures that 6S standards are being maintained within the maintenance/tooling department, tool crib and work areas

  • Direct and allocate overtime hours as schedules require supporting all production activities

  • Performs/assists in associate performance reviews and discussions

  • Supports continuous improvement projects

  • Participates in, and provides training as required

  • Participates in and performs Layered Process Audits (LPA) per plan

  • Ensures Housekeeping and Health & Safety Standards are maintained

  • Complies with policies and procedures pertaining to facility or divisional adopted standards such as TS 16949 and ISO 14001

  • Utilizes the concepts of continuous improvement including Lean

  • May, on occasion, be required to perform duties other than those specified in this description

Education and Qualifications:


  • Four year College or University Degree/Technical degree in Engineering/related field preferred

  • Minimum of three years' experience in automotive industry

  • Prior leadership experience preferred

  • Technical ability to solve complex problems and exercise judgement based on the analysis of multiple sources of information

  • Experience in a variety of basic operations disciplines: Manufacturing, Quality, Process / Tooling and Shop Floor Supervision

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Willingness and ability to travel, as necessary

Work Environment/Work Conditions:


  • Professional Office Environment

  • Must wear proper personal protection equipment while on manufacturing floor

  • Travel to manufacturing facilities or customer locations when required

  • Equipment used requires proper training on the potential for and avoidance of injury
