Job Description:

• Lead and coordinate outdoor education activities including workshops, mentored hunts, and shooting sports programs for youth and adults.
•Collaborate with agency educators in other divisions to align goals and efforts.
Work with schools, teams and partners to manage the Nebraska Archery in the Schools Program.
•Work with schools, teachers, volunteer instructors and archery coaches to organize the archery in the schools state tournament and regional tournaments.
•Support and facilitate the implementation of the agency's Recruitment, Retention, and Reactivation (R3) plan objectives.
•Develop and maintain partnerships with conservation organizations, shooting sports organization partners and volunteers.
•Collaborate with staff and partners to plan effective mentored hunt programs and events.
•Assist the Division Assistant Administrator of Outdoor Education with events and programs as needed.
•Collaborate with hunter education and shooting sports coordinator to provide programs and opportunities to expand shooting sports.
•Coordinate with staff to maintain and implement Nebraska's shooting range plan.
•Manage federal grants and prepare reports.
•Maintain budget oversight for areas of responsibility.



Requirements / Qualifications:




Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in natural resources, education or related fields plus three years of related experience, preferably in outdoor/natural resource education, or wildlife management; OR a minimum of seven years related professional experience. Education may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • Knowledge of outdoor recreation, hunting and shooting sports best practices.

  • Effective supervisory and management skills.

  • Strong communication, organization, and project management skills.

  • Ability to track projects and meet deadlines.

  • Public speaking abilities and knowledge of education principles and their application.

  • Familiarity with archery best practices and safety regulations.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain relationships with colleagues, partners, staff, and volunteers.

  • Knowledge of Nebraska's game and non-game species, fish, hunting, parks, boating, geography, and outdoor recreation in general.
