The Department of Chemistry at the University of Pennsylvania
(Penn) invites applications for a tenure-track position in the broadly defined area of biological chemistry and chemical biology. Penn Chemistry is a collaborative and interactive department. Within the department, the traditional sub-fields of biochemistry, organic, inorganic, and physical chemistry serve as a framework from which collaborative, inter-disciplinary experimental and theoretical research is launched. The Department of Chemistry is housed within the School of Arts & Sciences
(SAS). Interdisciplinary research and collaboration are supported across the campus as chemistry faculty routinely collaborate with others in SAS as well in the Perelman School of Medicine (PSOM) and the School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS), all part of our highly integrated campus in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Penn is home to the Center for Translational Chemical Biology, a home for collaboration between SAS, SEAS, and PSOM, and biomedically-oriented research benefits from support through NIH-funded centers as well as NIH training grants that provide fellowships to students working in areas such as structural biology, biophysics, or chemical biology. Qualifications include:● Broad training in biological chemistry● Strong research potential● Capacity for teaching at both the graduate and undergraduate levels and mentoring and supporting a diverse student body● The ability to direct graduate/undergraduate research● Candidates are expected to have completed a PhD and postdoctoral experience by the time of appointment, which is July 1, 2025● The successful candidate will be expected to establish an externally funded research program
