Location: Clemson, South Carolina
The College of Architecture, Art, and Construction at Clemson University seeks applicants for a one-year appointment as a post-doctoral research fellow under the supervision of Dr. Ece Erdogmus. Successful candidates may be considered for a full-time tenure-track assistant professor position after a successful year in this role.
The selected applicant will:
(a) contribute to current and ongoing research projects that focus on numerical modeling (i.e. continuum and discontinuum-based analysis of masonry structures)
(b) contribute to current and ongoing research projects that involve material testing related to both new and historic masonry construction
(c) actively participate in two current projects and proposal writing for new projects
(d) co-author peer-reviewed articles
(e) supervise graduate and undergraduate research students, as needed
Expected Start Date: The proposed start date for this position could be as early as January 1, 2025, but there is some flexibility in the finalized schedule.
A PhD in structural or mechanical engineering (with focus on materials or fracture mechanics) completed by the start date is required. Familiarity with discrete and finite element methods and design/analysis of masonry or concrete structures is preferred.
