Job Description:

Job Description: The Senior Staff Accountant will be responsible for overseeing a range of accounting functions, including general ledger maintenance, month-end close processes, financial reporting, and reconciliation. This position will work closely with the accounting team and other departments to ensure compliance with accounting standards and support the company's financial goals.



Key Responsibilities:



  • Month-End Close Process:



    • Lead the month-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely closing of financial records.

    • Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and adjustments.

    • Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including cash, receivables, payables, and fixed assets.




  • General Ledger Maintenance:



    • Maintain and review the general ledger to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP.

    • Ensure proper coding of transactions and monitor the accuracy of financial data.

    • Assist in maintaining and updating the chart of accounts.




  • Financial Reporting:



    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.

    • Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis for senior management.

    • Analyze financial data to provide insights on performance and trends.




  • Accounts Reconciliation:



    • Perform detailed account reconciliations for key balance sheet accounts (e.g., bank accounts, intercompany accounts, accruals).

    • Investigate and resolve any discrepancies in financial records.




  • Internal Controls and Compliance:



    • Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and accounting standards (GAAP).

    • Assist with the preparation of documentation and schedules for internal and external audits.

    • Identify areas for process improvement and work to strengthen internal controls.




  • Fixed Asset Management:



    • Maintain the fixed asset ledger and ensure proper accounting for asset acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation.

    • Track capital expenditures and assist in preparing capitalization reports.




  • Tax and Audit Support:



    • Prepare supporting schedules for tax filings and external audits.

    • Coordinate with external auditors and tax consultants to provide documentation and resolve inquiries.




  • Process Improvement:



    • Identify and recommend improvements to financial processes and accounting systems.

    • Implement best practices in accounting procedures to increase accuracy and efficiency.





  • Qualifications:



    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

    • 4+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or public accounting environment.

    • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards.

    • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, SAP, or Oracle) and Microsoft Excel.

    • Excellent attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and a high level of accuracy.

    • Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders.


    Preferred Qualifications:



    • CPA or progress toward CPA certification is highly preferred.

    • Experience with ERP systems and accounting software implementations.

    • Familiarity with tax regulations and reporting requirements.
