Job Summary
The Student Involvement and Leadership Center Office Assistant position provides vital front desk and administrative support for the SILC team. They are often the first impression a student, staff, alumni or community member has of our office.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
Answers and directs phone calls in a professional and timely manner, ensuring clear communication with all callers.
Monitors and manages the departmental email account, responding to inquiries and directing messages to the appropriate team members.
Coordinates office logistics by handling all tower office requests, including key requests and coordinating the delivery of mail to the department and affiliated student organizations.
Supports office projects by gathering data, creating event descriptions, and helping with the execution of events.
Assists with other administrative tasks as assigned to support the department's operations.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
Experience working in a customer service role
Preferred
Working knowledge of IU systems and policies and procedures
SKILLS
Required
Excellent customer service skills
Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and accurately
Possess outstanding organization skills
Ability to effectively use Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
