About Team:
Our team works closely with our US stores and eCommerce business to better serve customers by empowering team members, stores, and merchants with technological innovation. From groceries and entertainment to sporting goods and crafts, Walmart U.S. offers an extensive selection that our customers value, whether they shop online at Walmart.com, through one of our mobile apps, or in-store. Focus areas include customers, stores and employees, in-store service, merchant tools, merchant data science, and search and personalization.
As part of the Ranking Team, your primary focus will be to enhance one of the key facets of product search - optimizing the ranking of relevant products based on multiple factors such as GMV, conversion, diversity, and cold start.
Your role will primarily involve the application of advanced machine learning, information retrieval, NLP, and computer vision techniques to enhance our product research ranking algorithms. Your contributions will directly influence the objectives of the world's leading Fortune 1 enterprise and touch the lives of millions of customers.

What you'll do:
1. Strong educational background: A PhD degree in Computer Science or a related field along with at least 3 years of experience OR a Master's degree in computer science or a related field along with at least 5 years of experience,
2. Proficiency in programming: Highly proficient in Python or Java, enabling efficient development and implementation of machine learning projects.
3. Hands-on experience with large datasets: Extensive experience in building machine learning projects with terabytes of data, demonstrating the ability to handle and process complex data sets effectively.
4. Leadership skills: Experience working as a tech lead, showcasing the ability to guide and mentor a team, manage projects, and ensure successful outcomes.
5. Community involvement: Active participation in the community through blog posts, papers, or conference talks, highlighting a commitment to knowledge sharing and staying at the forefront of advancements in the field.
What you'll bring:
1. Thought leadership: Act as a thought leader to identify and understand the right problems to solve for customers, ensuring that the solutions developed align with their needs and expectations.
2. Machine learning implementation: Design and implement state-of-the-art machine learning approaches, utilizing your expertise in Python or Java to develop innovative and effective solutions.
3. Tech lead and roadmap development: Take on the role of a tech lead, guiding and mentoring co-workers, and defining the roadmap for yourself and the team. This involves setting goals, prioritizing tasks, and ensuring the successful execution of projects.
4. End-to-end ownership: Develop end-to-end ownership of major customer-facing technologies, taking responsibility for their design, development, and deployment. This includes monitoring their performance, addressing issues promptly, and continuously improving the technology for optimal customer satisfaction.
5. Specialization in NLP, search ranking, or computer vision: Become an expert in one of these specific areas - natural language processing (NLP), search ranking, or computer vision - by staying updated with the latest advancements, conducting research, and implementing cutting-edge techniques to solve related problems.

Sunnyvale, California US-04396:The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00-$286,000.00
Bentonville, Arkansas US-10735:The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00-$220,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
