We are looking for a Commissioning Engineer-In-Training to join our Nashville team. Our Building Commissioning Team facilitates proper mechanical, electrical, and plumbing performance in the built environment by providing experienced design and construction personnel to help guide the design of facilities into tangible, well-constructed systems that function in accordance with the designer's intent and the Owner's needs.
This position requires travel up to 50% of the time. Close proximity to an international airport is required.
Responsibilities:
Prepare estimates/take-offs for MEP equipment based on design documents.
Prepare proposals for commissioning projects.
Participate in commissioning reviews of design documents for commissioned systems.
Edit commissioning specifications for incorporation into project documents.
Learn important MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) systems concepts regarding design, installation, functionality, and integration.
Prepare commissioning narratives for projects describing the commissioning project for each process based on agreements.
Prepare pre-functional checklists (PFCs) based on design documents to be incorporated into commissioning plans.
Manage project deliverables and client expectations throughout project duration.
Prepare functional performance tests (FPTs) based on sequences of operation (SOOs) in the design documents to be incorporated into commissioning plans.
Attend project meetings and prepare notes/minutes associated with commissioning meetings.
Professionally conduct project correspondence with owners, engineers, contractors and other members of commissioning teams.
Conduct project site visits to observe equipment installations; prepare site visit reports indicating important findings and other items of interest as a result of site visits.
Direct contractors in the execution of functional performance testing for mechanical systems and document the results; prepare functional performance testing reports indicating the findings.
Manage Gresham Smith's online commissioning portal and update project information therein.
Facilitate production of final reports and other reports for commissioning projects.
Assist in resolving a variety of complex problems (e.g., conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, difficult coordination requirements).
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
0-5 years of professional experience.
Presentable written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Demonstrated ability to discern between making decisions independently and requiring input from more experienced expertise.
Capability of working with internal and external teams efficiently.
Ability to travel up to 50% of the time during the work week.
Preferred Qualifications:
EIT certification is preferred but not required.
Expertise in Microsoft Excel and Word are a plus
2 years' experience in HVAC systems with a MEP consulting firm.
LEED Accreditation
Construction site or contractor experience.
Experience in existing buildings, healthcare, higher education, and industrial projects.
Experience in CxAlloy, BIM360, and other construction software.
