Job Description:

Beacon Hill Legal is seeking a Litigation Paralegal with ediscovery experience for our client a Texas Litigation Firm. This position is 100% in office located in the heart of Downtown Dallas


Skills


  • E-data: assisting with decisions for collection, budgeting, review, managing document reviews

  • Databases: we use Viewpoint, occasionally Relativity or Disco; if applicant does not know Viewpoint

  • but has a lot of experience in another database, they should be fine if they are open-minded and willing to learn

  • Pacer: filing with court; e-File Texas

  • Research: Pacer, background searches (we use TLO), Westlaw (or Lexis); obtaining information from

  • smaller courts; e-file/Re:Search Texas

  • Excel: used frequently, but not complicated formulas, mostly for information for cases

  • Adobe: used frequently for redacting, bates labeling, combining documents, bookmarking

  • Description of Work

  • Desired five years of litigation experience as a paralegal; white collar crime field is a plus but not

  • necessary (we do civil litigation, tax, and white-collar criminal defense)

  • Assist with data collection decisions and give direction, working with clients and vendor

  • Must be familiar with e-discovery best practices

  • Ability to estimate discovery costs, budget, and negotiate with vendors

  • Interviewing clients regarding location of data and collection of documents

  • In databases, able to see the overall/high view picture, then organize the database as needed, creating

  • searches, filtering, manage reviews; database work will involve much more than reviewing documents!

  • In the white collar/government investigation side, we handle many cases that may come in small: data

  • and documents will need to be organized, indexed, and maintained so we can go back to them in two

  • years if there is more investigation or indictment.

  • Ideal Candidate

  • Pro-Active and self starter - BUT ability to use good judgment is essential.

  • Flexible: will not be ruffled by multiple urgent requests and switching gears or learning new things.

  • Sometimes we get involved in tax cases, reviewing and organizing documents, responding to IDR

  • requests; tax knowledge is not required, but must be open to learning

  • Able to communicate with attorneys and move the case along as far as data collection and review,

  • responding to subpoenas, discovery, etc. Not tentative to prompt attorneys and get things going, but at the same time using good judgment.

  • Assertive; confident in knowledge of data and litigation process

  • Will be working sometimes as a team but many times you will be working alone

  • Adhering to a few processes that have proven to work; yet you will be allowed some autonomy in managing your cases

  • Must be able to travel to out-of-town trials on occasion; some trials can be up to two months, put possibly longer. However, we may go years without going to trial.

  • Experience in setting up war room and conducting every part of the arrangements for trial: movers,

  • supplies, setting up work stations; negotiating with hotels; working with court coordinator for setup;

  • working with vendor who handles exhibit display

  • Outside of trial, occasional overtime sometimes necessary - but not too often


Education:



Bachelor's Degree or Paralegal Certificate (ABA approved program)


E-Discovery advanced experience is ESSENTIAL


E-Discovery certification OR willing to take ACEDS e-discovery course and maintain certification with CLE
