Summary/Objective:

The Automation Controls Manager will play a crucial role in coordinating vendors, internal testing, and customer relations for our Industrial projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all automation and controls requirements are met for the assigned job location. This position requires a strong leader with a background in mechanical service and industrial electrical controls.

Essential Functions:

  • Effective management of operations, resulting in completion of contracts within time and cost limits
  • Achieve gross profit objectives through leadership and management of staff, while meeting contractual commitments to customers and providing exceptional service
  • Mentor junior level controls associates
  • Coordinate plan and perform work for various customers to include troubleshooting in place control systems, new equipment control system install and logic improvements.
  • Assist customers in identifying an areas of failure as needed.
  • Work closely with third party controls companies to provide the end user with a satisfactory controls system.
  • Work both within a team and independently to grow ACI's current controls market share.
  • Provide security and safety to ACI's customers control systems.
  • Collaborate and work with the project manager team to ensure projects are complete on time and to budget.
  • Develop specifications and documentation as necessary
  • Program and configure PLC systems
  • Provide exceptional opportunity to engage advanced leadership, operations, financial, technical, and energy-conservation skills
  • Develop and grow long-term business relationships
  • Coordinate interaction between clients and other company departments
  • Provide estimating and sales support
  • Provide project management for ongoing jobs
  • Provide strategy and efficiencies to improve field operations.
  • Develop and manage first in class preventive maintenance contracts
  • Motivate and provide team building between sales, operations and admin.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, efficient decision-making ability, management and leadership skills, and applicable computer experience (Microsoft Office platform - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility: Yes


Required:

  • 5+ years of experience in controls and industrial automation
  • At least 3-5 years' previous management experience
  • Strong knowledge of commercial/industrial electrical automation equipment and controls
  • Strong business forecasting and planning skills
  • Computer literate (Email, Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Exceptional customer relations experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Must be a self-starter, be able to work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, show attention to detail and demonstrate problem-solving skills
  • Must be able to pass post-offer pre-employment drug screen, and may be required to satisfactorily complete additional background checks as required (i.e. DMV, criminal history)
  • Must adhere to all company policy and procedures
  • Must be available, and have the means to report to multiple job sites as assigned

Work Environment:

  • May work in varying temperatures; both inside and outside, including inclement weather, heat, humidity, cold, and dampness
  • May work in areas with exposure to moderate/high noise levels
  • May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including dust

Physical Demands:

  • This role routinely uses construction equipment such as heavy machinery, hand and power tools
  • While performing duties of the job the employee may work aloft, climb, bend, pull, reach overhead, stand/walk for long periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms
  • Must be able to correctly identify all colors of a color-coded cable/wires and see close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus

Travel:

  • May require travel (typically not overnight)

Preferred:

  • Prior military experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Project Management or another related field
