A Day in the Life
As the Sr. Lean Sigma Manager in our Ponce, PR manufacturing site, you will lead, deploy, and implement Lean Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement throughout the facility. You will initiate deployment activities within the site to ensure that improvement actions are directly linked to the strategic and tactical objectives of the operating unit, emphasizing the efficiency and effectiveness of manufacturing and business processes, and enabling breakthrough process changes and improvements. You will perform value assessments identifying key areas for improvement opportunities and create improvement plans that meet business goals; lead various Lean and Six Sigma projects; assess the status of processes using roadmaps to plan for the future of manufacturing, with associated milestones in line with plant maturity. You will coach and mentor multidisciplinary teams on manufacturing strategies specific to Medtronic Performance System; coordinate strategy deployment system and organizational alignment to accelerate improvement; participate on the leadership team of a Medtronic manufacturing plant, with associated quality, capacity, and financial planning process; deploy continuous improvement methodologies to include application across a value stream, including functions of safety, operations, engineering, quality, and facilities.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.


  • Facilitates and coaches improvement teams.

  • Establishes and maintains performance metrics to measure program success.

  • Installs process excellence supports for program governance, project reviews, communications, training, certifications and rewards.

  • Develop, implement, and sustain process improvement initiatives using the Medtronic Performance System (MPS).

  • Creates and maintains a 1-to-3-year cost-saving pipeline to drive cost competitiveness.

  • Define improvement projects aligned with business strategies.

  • Analyze improvement programs and potential results.

  • Accountable for financial analysis and planning.

  • Demonstrates lean, six sigma, team building, effective communication, and project management skills to perform essential job functions.

  • Define, design, and implement continuous improvement programs to ensure programs are integrated vertically and horizontally across the organization.

  • Facilitate and coach improvement teams.

  • Establish and maintain performance metrics to measure program success.

  • Develops metrics that provide data for process measurement, identifying indicators for future improvement opportunities.

  • Deliver presentations and training courses.

  • Surveys and analyzes best practices for techniques and processes.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements


  • Bachelor's Degree

  • and minimum of 7 years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial experience.

Nice to Have:


  • Certified Master Black Belt

  • Experience with policy deployment and tier management

  • Solid understanding of Engineering, Project Management, Lean Principles, Six Sigma, and financial acumen.

  • Medical device manufacturing experience

  • Project Management Professional Certified

  • Ability to manage cross-functionally with direct and indirect influence.

  • Ability to coach and facilitate individually and at the large-scale level.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects.

  • Proven skills working with cross-functional teams and presentation skills.

  • Experience with the deployment of lean manufacturing

  • Ability to directly lead and/or coordinate high-impact process improvement projects.

  • Validation Experience

  • Proven experience working capital investment projects.

  • Strong financial knowledge

  • Bachelor In Engineering
