Associate Director, Center for Excellence in Advocacy LW7841

Position Summary: Serves as the designated Center staff member dedicated to supporting Center driven advocacy programs, to include external and internal competitions and the efforts of our competition teams and their directors. Supports the Center for Excellence in Advocacy in other Center activities, to include managing the daily activities for the Advocacy Concentration and Center sponsored conferences, workshops, and hosted advocacy competitions. Works on other tasks as assigned by the Director of the Center for Excellence in Advocacy.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities: Employment duties will include, but not be limited to:
· Supports Directors of Trial Team, Moot Court, and Dispute Resolution, to include assisting coaching, as requested, with the approval of the Center Director.
· Supporting Center initiatives on campus, including advocacy board try-outs, admitted student events, and intramural competitions.
· Managing the Advocacy Concentration to include review of applications, monitoring of pro bono hours, and approval of required paper topics.
· Supports Center for Excellence in Advocacy Programs related to maintaining the preeminence of Stetson's Advocacy reputation. Examples of such support include:
o Assisting in planning, hosting, and presenting at Center-sponsored conferences, to include the annual Educating Advocacy Teachers Conference and annual Writing Workshop and Competition.
o Managing regional, national, and international competitions hosted by the Advocacy Center including the National Pretrial Competition (NPTC). Support for NPTC also includes drafting the competition case problem.
o Maintaining the Advocacy Center social media accounts and updating Center webpages regularly.
o Assisting in the development and administration of professional development courses and certificates sponsored by the Center.
o Providing assistance and oversite for operations associated with Student Body involvement in advocacy programs, competitions, and center activities; and assists teams wishing to travel to competitions that are not covered by the school competition boards.
· Maintains a collaborative work environment and works well with others.
· All other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), MS Outlook
Required Qualifications:
Education: J.D. degree required. One to three years of experience preferred.
The preferred candidate will have experience in developing and running programs, or demonstrate the willingness and skill set necessary to develop such expertise. An understanding of working in a nonprofit environment is preferred, with exposure to higher education, a plus. Demonstrated ethical behavior, professionalism, and leadership and management abilities. Has a collaborative work and leadership style, with a capacity to cultivate and build relationships. Superior interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including maturity and diplomacy. The ability to juggle multiple competing priorities successfully. Excellent judgment, discretion, and professionalism. The flexibility and commitment to periodically work long and/or irregular hours. Maintains confidentiality. Must be a dependable, responsible contributor committed to the excellence and success of Stetson's Competition Teams, the Center for Excellence in Advocacy and College of Law. Works with the faculty and staff to build an environment that promotes and facilitates the success of Diversity and Inclusive Excellence.
Work Environment and Special Considerations: Work duties performed primarily in temperature-controlled office, with frequent student interaction. Lifting occasionally up to 20 lbs. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
