The Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence (CTLE) at Santa Fe College is committed to supporting faculty and staff through professional development, workshops, and collaborative communities of practice. The Faculty Development Instructional Designer at the CTLE plays a crucial role in advancing the Center's mission by collaborating with faculty and staff to design and facilitate professional development initiatives, as well as building community, designing workshops, and supporting collaborative, collegewide projects that enhance teaching practices and promote student engagement and success. The Faculty Development Instructional Designer must have a strong background in instructional design technology as well as knowledge of innovative teaching practices that impact student success for all learners.


Job Description


Responsibilities and Duties Include:


  • Collaborates with faculty and staff collegewide to identify needs and design tailored professional development workshops and training sessions.

  • Provides pedagogical guidance to the CTLE Faculty Fellows and other related individuals.

  • Designs and facilitates workshops, discussion groups, and communities of practice that foster collaboration and share best practices.

  • Liaises with internal constituencies to build and strengthen a supportive educational community focused on inclusive teaching practices.

  • Contributes to the creation and preparation of materials for ongoing professional development programs, such as the Summer Institute and New Faculty Academy, in collaboration with the Director.

  • Promotes and supports participation in collegewide conversations and initiatives aimed at enhancing teaching and learning.

  • Collaborates and consults with faculty to develop and refine instructional materials and resources that align with the Center's goal and the College's mission.

  • Assists faculty with the selection of effective instructional strategies and the articulation of measurable course and lesson learning outcomes.

  • Supports the development and implementation of community-building activities that encourage faculty engagement and collaboration.

  • Provides professional and supportive assistance to faculty and staff in their professional growth and development.

  • Acts as an advocate for teaching and learning by staying abreast of relevant trends and researching best practices.

  • Assists in raising awareness of the exemplary work and innovative practices occurring collegewide.

  • Manages special projects related to faculty development and community engagement.

  • Designs and maintains CTLE web presence and Canvas sites and routinely ensures online educational resources are accessible, updated, and functional.

  • Complies with all published College Rules, procedures, guidelines, and laws/regulations governing public employees, including but not limited to those related to document retention and destruction, FERPA, and confidentiality.

  • Strictly honors the privacy, security, and confidentiality of student records and other sensitive information according to appropriate state, federal, and college regulations, policies, and procedures.

  • Provides service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagement.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Reports to: Director, Center for Teaching and Learning


QUALIFICATIONS


Required: A bachelor's degree in education, instructional design, or a related field or a bachelor's degree with courses related to instructional design with two (2) years of related work experience and/or a combination of education and experience equal to six (6) years.


Additional Requirements: A criminal background check will be conducted.

Preferred: A master's degree in a related field, experience in higher education, and prior experience in professional development, workshop design, or community building.

  • Systems & Software - proficient level of knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or relevant position software programs.

  • Multi-task - Ability to expeditiously organize, coordinate, manage, prioritize, and perform multiple tasks simultaneously to swiftly assess a situation, determine a logical course of action, and apply the appropriate response.
