Northern Trust Asset Management (NTAM) business unit is looking for Data Solutions Architect with strong expertise building data centered application. The role is high touch position with a notable amount of collaboration across teams in defining business solutions.

This individual is a multi-tasker at heart, with strong communication skills and a problem-solving mindset that thrives in a fast-paced organization. The ideal candidate would engage NTAM business leaders, understanding business needs and providing solutions.

Key skills required for the role:


  • Expertise in designing data driven solution on Snowflake for complex business needs.

  • Background working with key data domains as account, holding and performance within asset management space.

  • Design the database, data models, ETL processes, and data warehouse applications through the use of best practices to ensure smooth business operation.

  • Responsible for overall data architecture for all areas and domains of the enterprise, including data acquisition, data warehouse, data provisioning, and ETL.

  • Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design, ontology and taxonomy design.

  • Knowledge of ETL patterns for data ingestion, processing, distribution and reporting.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Economics, Business or Finance or equivalent experience.

  • Intellectual curiosity, inclination for independent and self-directed work, and attention to detail.

  • Manage relationships with stakeholders and executive leadership to achieve business outcomes.

Roles and Responsibilities:


  • Drive adoption of strategic data platform with strong understanding of IBOR/ABOR dataset sourced from Aladdin, CDG, Eagle and Custodial systems.

  • Provide design level functional and technical expertise along with best practices.

  • Understand and implement the latest delivery approaches based on data architecture

  • Manage relationships with all stakeholders, with a focus on setting expectations and maintaining ongoing client satisfaction through effective communication and a strong commitment to customer service.

  • Leads technology proof of concepts to ensure feasibility of architecture solutions.

  • Mentor engineering team on data input, use and analysis leveraging technical pattern.

  • Drives continuous technology transformation to minimize technical debt. Continuously improve efficiency and effectiveness of the architecture.

  • Looks for opportunities to capitalize on technology advances through analysis of key industry and technology trends to assess potential impact on the enterprise.

  • Contribute to a fast-paced Agile team and participate in multiple aspects of planning, documentation, execution, testing and launch of projects.

  • Examine data, processes, and technologies to determine the current state and critical problems of internal business functions.

  • Strong grasp of value creation and business capability models for large scale technology platforms.
