As a key member of the Materials team, the Materials Manager will oversee the materials department in a lean, just-in-time environment, focusing on automotive seating systems. Responsibilities include pre-production material control, scheduling, bill of materials coordination, and logistics.
Key Responsibilities:
Inventory Management: Monitor shipment plans and ensure sufficient inventory levels.
Data Analysis: Analyze inventory accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
Supplier Communication: Maintain consistent communication with suppliers on quality and delivery.
Performance Objectives: Meet inventory performance goals set by Materials management.
Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with other departments.
Supplier Performance: Disseminate performance data and maintain ethical supplier relationships.
Continuous Improvement: Participate in teams focused on process improvement and waste elimination.
Project Management: Work on projects to improve quality, cycle time, and efficiency.
Inventory Verification: Verify perpetual inventory against physical counts and investigate discrepancies.
Budget Control: Manage Material department budgets.
Staff Management: Hire, train, and oversee staff.
Safety Compliance: Enforce safety rules and regulations.
Work Planning: Plan work assignments and equipment allocations.
Problem Resolution: Resolve worker problems and collaborate on solutions.
Regulatory Compliance: Interpret transportation and tariff regulations.
Inventory Audits: Coordinate physical inventory audits with accounting.
Supplier Relationships: Maintain good relationships and source best prices for materials.
Goal Setting: Recommend and implement unit goals and objectives.
Budget Preparation: Participate in budget preparation and monitor expenditures.
Compliance: Ensure departmental procedures comply with TS16949 standards.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field.
Experience: Five years in logistics and materials planning.
