Job Description:

Under the immediate supervision of the Accounting Manager, is responsible for for assisting the Accounting Manager in all aspects of preparing monthly financial statements, cost reports, audits, and surveys for all entities. The Senior Staff Accountant will monitor and insure accurate cash controls for all cash submitted to Finance; as well as provide assistance and support for the Staff Accountant and payroll clerk positions.

Accounting projects:

• Backup to both AP and payroll - Serves on committees and attends meetings as requested - Responsible for the processing of payroll taxes, direct deposit, and pension contributions in a timely manner, insuring compliance with regulated time requirements

• Indirect supervision of Accountant, insuring accurate and timely processing of payroll; assisting as necessary

• Responsible for coordination and completion of annual W2 and 1099 reporting

• Assists with the preparation of the annual budget


Ad Hoc Reports:


• Prepare and distribute completed financials for mailing; MAR's report, GL Detail, MM Auto Trans

• Accurate preparation and timely submission of the NHHA Databank monthly report

• Review of 941's prior to filing

• Assist with the preparation of all audits; Interim, Annual, Worker's Compensation, etc.

• Assist with the completion of all annual reports; 990, 5500, Cost Report, etc.

• Maximize data analysis and reporting and complete ad hoc analysis as requested; developing tools, metrics, and reporting methods

Account Reconciliations/Bank deposits:

• Reconcile Payroll and Operating Account bank statements

• General oversight of Net Asset Reconciliations in support of Philanthropy

Primary Assist to the Accounting Manager for all General Ledger inquiries:

• Heavy involvement with month-end close for all entities; reconciliation and posting of Hospital revenue, reconciliation and posting of Physician Practice revenue, compilation of statistics, contractual allowance calculations, month-end journal entries, as well as schedules

• Completion of monthly financials in a timely and accurate manner

• Ensure the accuracy of balance sheet accounts, reconciling and adjusting balances on a monthly basis

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business preferred

Experience: Minimum three to five years of experience, preferably in healthcare. Knowledge of general accounting procedures
