Job Summary
Handle day-to-day management of compliance aspects of projects with a finite life span/impact, from original concept through final implementation. Provide guidance for others in compliance in project management and execution and delegate work, as needed. Provide guidance and expertise on architectural access compliance and develop policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards for accessible design in capital projects. Function as the ADA representative for the Bureau/Department with the design and policy standards. Oversee the implementation of ADA capital improvement projects. Analyze, establish, and implement building and structure designs. Recommend design concepts for disability access to new and existing facilities according to ADA and compliance guidelines.

This Position is At-Will and Actively Recruited. Minimum Qualification

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a NAAB accredited bachelor's degree or higher in Architecture, and
• Five (5) years of experience in developing or implementing the design, permitting and construction of building projects, and
• Licensed to practice Architecture in Illinois or other states that would allow reciprocity is required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS

• Knowledge of ADA requirements and other structural access laws/regulations that was acquired through trainings or practical experience.
• Knowledge of design, engineering, planning, estimating, funding, contract administration, and preparation relative to major capital development and construction projects with respect to governmental agencies.
• Ability to analyze, review, and document the performance of non-County professional services consultants/contractors engaged in County projects.
• Ability to coordinate development, analyze feasibility, and conduct location studies for improvement projects to assume primary or sole responsibility in such matters.
• Ability to enable collaborative teaming and oversee the work of a project.
• Ability to lead collaborative teaming efforts and oversee the work of project support.
• Ability to communicate project priorities, oversee deliverable development, manage project workforce, and deliver project status reports.
• Skill in the day-to-day management of projects with a finite life span/impact, from original concept through final implementation.
• Ability to travel to various work sites throughout the County.
