Position Summary:



The Speech Language Pathologist evaluates and treats communication disorders, including motor speech disorder, language disorder, cognitive language deficits, and voice disorders.



QUALIFICATIONS:




Required Qualifications:




  • Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.

  • Licensed to practice Speech Therapy in the state of Florida.

  • Ability to utilize computers and other electronic devices for tasks such as timekeeping, in-servicing and documentation.

  • Ability to pass drug, criminal, and employment screenings.


Preferred Skills:



  • Able to meet the requirements identified in the Essential Functions.

  • A minimum of one year's experience working with the elderly population is preferred.




ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:



  • Evaluates and treats patients with common Speech Therapy diagnoses.

  • Develops and implements plans of treatment with approval of a physician that focus on functional and measurable outcomes. Adheres to professional standards of practice.

  • Provides documentation to maintain quality of the medical record as it relates to reimbursement guidelines, accuracy of billing information and Agency requirements.

  • Schedule, supervise and execute all treatments and re-evaluate the patients' physical status at periodic intervals.

  • Confers with the physician in regard to changes in the plan of treatment, patient status, care and progress.

  • Hold in confidence all personal information related to him/her by the patient unless such information will be beneficial to that patient if reported to the referring physician.

  • Follows administrative policies and procedures related to emergency procedures, infection control and safety.

  • Assists the Administrator in procuring proper equipment and supplies required for the patient/department.

  • Keep abreast of new techniques and trends in the fields of speech-language pathology.

  • Perform any and all other duties as may be assigned.
