Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of automated software testing, data analysis, and cybersecurity solutions for complex, mission-critical systems in the US Department of Defense (DOD), is seeking a Networks Engineer to be based in our San Diego office.
Overview:
The networks engineer will architect, design, and configure networks using software defined virtualized replica networks, supporting manual and automated test operation for IDTs flagship ATRT Enterprise Platform in a classified lab environment. The networks engineer will also utilize next generation software defined networking technologies to augment existing shipboard networks performing and analyzing what-if scenarios in both on-prem and cloud environments.
This role requires a highly organized and experienced individual capable of building new network architectures, troubleshooting network issues, and supporting result analysis simultaneously in a fast paced, state-of-the-art environment including software defined networking, zero touch provisioning, and cloud networking. The successful candidate will demonstrate their knowledge and experience designing and supporting networks similar to those used by US Navy systems.

Responsibilities Include:
Augment existing US Navy systems with Software Defined Networking (SDN) technologies, evaluate impact of SDN technologies
Design and configure autonomous systems using common network protocols like OSPF, and BGP
Include network segmentation constructs like VLANs and VRF routing domains into existing and new network architectures
Incorporate day-zero networking technologies like Cisco Zero Touch Provisioning (ZTP) to automatically configure network architectures as part of a DevSecOps pipeline
Document and Present network architectures to customers, collect feedback, and update designs
Development of SDN networks using open source routing products like Quagga, Free Range Routing, and proprietary routers like Cisco Cloud Services Router
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent preferred in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, or Math
5+ year(s) of experience in network engineering
Required skills:
Familiarity with segregation constructs: VRF and VLANs
Familiarity with Autonomous System (AS) common protocols: OSPF and BGP
Familiarity with Software Defined Networking technologies
Capability to architect, design and configure networks utilizing concepts above
Ability to quickly learn new applications and tools
Basic MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) skills
Basic Linux operations knowledge
Basic Windows system administration skills
Preferred skills:
4+ years of experience operating US Navy tactical systems
Experience operating US Navy C4ISR systems
Proficiency in a Linux operating environment

Pay Range*: $102,600 - $179,550 or $132,300 - $231,000
