This position serves as the primary fiscal manager for the Biological Sciences and Neurosciences Department in the Kenneth P. Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences. Works directly with Department Chair, the Division Director of Finance, the Department Buyer and the Department Administrative Officer to manage all operating and restricted accounts and serves as advisor on strategic financial matters. Establishes and implements workflow processes for all associated areas and budgetary procedures consistent with University policy, and ensures funds are utilized and distributed according to University and Dietrich School policy. Reconciles the levels on a monthly basis; makes projections; and provides accurate accounting reports to the Department Chair, the Division Director of Finance, and the Department Administrative Officer. Works with Payroll/Personnel Coordinators to manage compensation; with sponsored research administrators to manage grant funding; and with other associated staff to appropriately administer purchasing, travel & business expenses and disbursements. Handles all professional services agreements and contracts. Requirements: Demonstrated financial management and accounting skills. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community. Must be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and respond quickly to changing priorities.
Manages day-to-day financial operations. Performs internal audits and ensures compliance. Assists with budgetary development; reconciles budgets. Prepares complex reports for leadership. Serves as a primary contact and resolves complex issues for all matters related to financial management.
The successful candidate will use a computer extensively. They must be capable of oral, written, and electronic communications. Must be able to sit for long periods of time. In addition to a computer, they must be able to use a telephone and other general office equipment including but not limited to fax machines, photocopiers, scanners, printers, etc.
This position is generally sedentary within an office setting, but the ability to travel around campus is occasionally necessary. Also, must be able to pick-up and carry 25 pounds.
