Samtec is seeking an Electrical based Engineering "Co-op" to work for our Test Engineering department at our Colorado Springs, CO location.Please only apply if you are a student currently enrolled and pursuing a bachelors degree in Engineering or a related field at alocalUniversity.
The schedule would be a minimum of twenty hours per week. Hours may vary but are flexible, ideally support is needed fromM-F 8AM - 6PM.Pay is $22.00 per hour. Co-ops are eligible to participate in our student program for tuition assistance. They may also opt to participate in Samtec's 401k plan.
The co-op will work with various managers and areas within our engineering department in order to gain exposure to the different aspects of engineering. The position will be responsible for completing assigned projects, building trust within team members, maintaining customer focus, as well as initiating and following up on actions taken.The ideal candidate for this position will have the ability to work with and take direction from senior engineers, be creative, passionate, and resourceful while taking initiative to explore new solutions to the issues they are presented with.
The student will be exposed to and expected to learn the basics in the many different technologies used at Samtec. These may include but are not limited to the following:
3D / Parametric part and tooling design
Signal integrity regarding high-speed electrical signals and their application
High speed fiber optic systems analysis and design
Test system design and schematic creation
PCB layout and design
Dimensional, electrical, and force analysis equipment
Process control and improvement
Metallography, metrology, and statistical analysis
Stress and force calculations
Failure analysis
Automated and hand assembly equipment and processes including those employing vision technology
Rapid prototyping
OBJECTIVES:
Troubleshoot and assess problems that may arise on the production floor
Run experiments to improve current production processes
Analyze yield fall out with a goal to find root causeand apply findings to process improvements
The responsibilities as defined are intended to serve as a general guideline for this position. Associates may be asked to perform additional tasks depending on strengths and capabilities
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Student pursuing a bachelors degree in engineering or related field at aLOCALUniversity
Availability to work a minimum of 20 hours per week during regular business hours while maintaining a full-time course load.
You must be available to commit to a minimum of 3 semesters.
Co-ops are required to maintain a C grade or above in all courses to maintain status in the program.
Samtec is an ITAR facility, and all applicants must be eligible to work in the U.S. on an unrestricted basis.
