Location: Clemson, South Carolina
Take the lead on the numerical modeling task associated with the SERDP project "Biotic and Abiotic Degradation of 1,4-Dioxane Diffusing from Clay: Mechanisms, Kinetics, and Role in Long-Term Attenuation in Groundwater." Other duties as assigned. Job duties: Perform a literature search of existing numerical models that describe the fate and transport of 1,4-dioxane as it diffuses through clay in aquifers. Develop a numerical model to simulate the fate and transport of 1,4-dioxane as it diffuses through layers of clay in aquifers. Perform model simulations and sensitivity analyses.
Minimum Education: PhD in Environmental Engineering or a closely related field. Minimum Experience: Numerical modeling of complex environmental systems.
