JOB DESCRIPTION:




Targeted Years of Experience: 5-10 years




Responsibilities:


Database Migration Expertise:

1. Strong understanding of both Oracle and MySQL architectures.

2. Experience with database migration tools (e.g., Oracle SQL Developer, MySQL Workbench, or custom scripts).

3. Knowledge of data modeling and schema conversion between Oracle and MySQL. Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL for both databases.

4. Familiarity with handling large datasets and minimizing downtime during migration.

5. Ability to resolve compatibility issues, especially around stored procedures, triggers, and views.

6. Expertise in configuring and maintaining MySQL on a Redhat 7/8 environment.

7. Ability to test the connectivity between the PHP application and MySQL database after the migration including troubleshooting thru firewalls

8. Experience in troubleshooting database issues that might arise due to changes in system libraries or configuration.

9. Understanding of optimizing SQL queries for performance in MySQL. Familiarity with index creation and optimization techniques to improve the performance of Python and Bash scripts interacting with the database.

10. Regression testing - Ensuring that the scripts retain their functionality and that no existing operations are broken due to migration

11. Documentation, documentation, documentation • Develop and maintain databases across the organization, while ensuring high levels of data availability • Evaluate and advise on all technology components, such as software, hardware, and networking capabilities, for database management systems and applications • Design and deploy data table structures, forms, reports, and queries • Conduct research and make recommendations on database products, services, protocols, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts • Identify inefficiencies in current databases and investigate solutions • Diagnose and resolve database access and performance issue • Plan and coordinate data migrations between systems • Develop, implement, and maintain change control and testing processes for modifications to databases • Ensure all database systems meet business and performance requirements • Produce ad-hoc queries and develop technical documentation to support business needs



MUST HAVE SKILLS (Most Important): MYSQL, Oracle, Database Migration and maintenance



DESIRED SKILLS:


1. PHP Expertise:- • Strong understanding of PHP and its dependencies, including any specific extensions or libraries used by the application. • Ability to identify and address compatibility issues between PHP versions and Redhat 8. • Proficiency in web server configuration (e.g., Apache or Nginx) to ensure proper integration with PHP post-upgrade.

2. Scripting (Python and Shell): • Ability to review and update Python and Shell scripts to ensure they work in the Redhat 8 environment, which may involve updates to libraries or system paths.

3. Familiarity with Python versions and handling any deprecation warnings or updates required for compatibility.

4. Application Testing and Validation: • Ability to conduct thorough testing of the web application post-upgrade to ensure that all components (front-end, back-end, scripting) work as expected.

5. Familiarity with RedHat 8
