Position Summary:

Manage purchasing of specific commodities regarding supplier selection, development, launch, and issue resolution for automotive components such as aluminum, magnesium, castings, forgings, fasteners, stampings, bushings, ball joints, capital equipment and tooling, MRO/Indirect and other.



Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and manage cost reduction projects.
  • Negotiate supply agreement, including terms and conditions.
  • Calculate component surcharge for the affected supply base based on contractual agreements. Issue PO amendments accordingly.
  • Develop and manage RFQs.
  • Analyze quotations received, make recommendations.
  • Participate in the commercial aspects of Supply Chain shortages and quality issues.
  • Continuously work on identifying and implementing cost saving strategies and product alternatives, including improved payment terms and lead times.
  • Attend APQP meetings as assigned.
  • Study market trends, interview vendors, and recommend sources of supply.
  • Develop and maintain purchasing records and reports, including all relevant supplier pricing data.
  • Work with Finance and Treasury to mitigate credit issues with suppliers.

Decisions Making Scope/Supervisory Responsibility:

  • Employee acts independently to handle standard problems but usually reports such problems. More unusual problems are referred to a supervisor/manager.



Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • Requires a four-year degree in Engineering, Business, or equivalent and equivalent experience

Skills, Knowledge and Competencies:

  • Ability to conduct financial analysis such as piece price, standard cost and PPV.
  • Understanding of contract structure and business terms & conditions.
  • Business Acumen and Strategic Thinking.
  • Problem Solving/Analysis.
  • Financial Management.

  • Impeccable attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well with a team.


Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

  • The employee is required to work in normal office conditions.
  • The employee is required to type, using a computer.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • When visiting a plant, PPE will be required.
