Job Summary:



The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for safeguarding product safety and quality while meeting Company and regulatory standards and has oversight responsibility for a continuous quality improvement program that includes quality control and quality assurance. This person is responsible for ensuring that the production and distribution of products meets or exceeds all quality standards. This person also has responsibility for communicating quality results and the transfer of quality and QA knowledge to the workforce.



How you will make contributions that matter:



  • Manages the operation of the plant laboratory operations and activities.

  • Ensures product safety, regulatory compliance, and compliance with company standards as stated in the Quality Assurance Manual, Laboratory Manual, and Company directives.

  • Drives Continuous Improvement efforts in product quality/performance and process optimization.

  • Provides leadership in coaching, education and training of management staff and plant employees for Quality Assurance and Food Safety; seeks assistance as needed from other Saputo training resources.

  • Provide leadership, direction, and guidance to Plant Personnel by understanding regulatory, customer and internal Saputo quality/food safety requirements.

  • Develops, facilitates and maintains the aseptic products HACCP program

  • Reviews all product labels used in the facility and ensures adherence to regulatory and Company standards

  • Supervises the appropriate chemical, bacteriological, sensory and utilization tests on raw materials

  • Lead problem-solving efforts through the facilitation of team meetings and on-the-floor leadership to effectively influence positive change and continuous improvement.

  • Proactively communicates quality metrics, results and inspection results to appropriate managers and others in leadership positions including, but not limited to daily, weekly or monthly KPI reporting to Corporate

  • Ensures that proper sanitation procedures are utilized and that adequate sanitation tests are performed; provides "troubleshooting" efforts in the event of sanitation system failure.

  • Develops and maintains documentation of all required quality tests and activities.

  • Acts as the lead for local, state, customer/third party, and federal audits and inspections.

  • Is responsible for department budget, expense management and control

  • Ensures adherence to all contract packaging quality requirements.

  • Cooperates in a cross-functional manner as a change agent with all departments within the Company.

  • Leads by example with the Saputo Code of Ethics and actively applies the Saputo Values. This includes following Company policies, standards and specifications.

  • Engages in the typical responsibilities of a manager requiring planning, evaluating, training, developing, organizing, performance management, employee relations, integrating and delegating.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.




You are best suited for the role if you have:



  • Bachelor's degree in a science-based area of study and a minimum of 3-years of supervisory level experience, leading others, preferred



  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices.

  • Possesses a working knowledge of sanitation systems, techniques and procedures.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills.

  • Possesses understanding of the basics of change management.

  • Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs; ability to lead others through change.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Skill in organization and prioritization, and attention to detail.

  • Strong team player and leader with the ability to work across multiple functions and disciplines.

  • Ability to select, coach, develop, engage and retain a team of employees.

Other Required Skills and Abilities:


  • Ability to read, write and interpret documents such as safety rules, procedure manuals and mathematical calculations.

  • Ability to read, comprehend and follow simple instructions. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.

  • Ability to hear and perceive information at normal spoken word levels.

  • Must have clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.




Physical Demands:



The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job. Exposure to food manufacturing conditions: wet, cold, humid, moving machinery, forklift traffic, high noise, frequent climbing stairs, steps, extended standing and walking, some crouching and stooping. Must have the ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with cGMP requirements.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hand to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel or crouch. Must have good visual acuity to include color acuity with the ability to distinguish individual color. Ability to taste and smell.



Salary Range: $85,370 - $112,050
