GHD is growing! We are hiring a Regional Quality & Project Management Lead (RQPM) to work from our Seattle, WA office. You will be responsible for the strategic leadership vision and execution of a strong quality and project management practice in US West Region. Act as the voice and leadership for US West Project Directors and Project Managers, and drive industry best practice improvements for role clarity, career and competency development, processes, and tools based upon a graded approach of project size and complexity.


Responsibilities:



Project Management

  • Accountable for the effective operation of the regional PMO in alignment with the NA PMO.
  • Leadership and governance of the project management practice within the region, with the specific requirement to make tangible improvements in project management maturity and effectiveness of the Project Director (PD) and Project Manager (PM) roles.
  • Ensure there is effective project management leadership in place within each business group.
  • Effective implementation of a PM career path that includes career development and competency/skills training for all level of PM's and PD's.
  • Implementation of best practices and support tools, systems and staff that can effectively execute projects at varying levels of complexity and size as required by region's business groups.
  • Working with NA PMO Lead, implement an effective and well understood process that will provide assurance that the right PMs and PDs are in place to support the projects delivered within each business group.
  • In conjunction with the NA PMO Lead, the regional stakeholders, establish an effective project delivery model for large/major complex projects, including within the design build and alternative delivery space.

Quality Systems

  • Maintain the regional quality management system records and document control.
  • Establish and maintain consistent and adequate administration procedures to ensure that all information is current and that the project team obtains the latest information.
  • Create regional quality management system reports, perform root cause analyses, and works to ensure non-conformities are addressed.
  • Build effective relationships, coach and influence stakeholders at all levels within the organization, to build better alignment with Quality KPIs.
  • Ensure new employees receive training and coaching on GHD's quality management systems.
  • Advise, guide and support managers in the implementation of quality practices both on site and within the office environment.
  • Assist project directors and their teams in the preparation of project quality plans, reviews and records management.
  • Audit flow of project execution to verify that processes and procedures set up for the project have been followed.
  • Influence and provide recommendations to other Regions, on how Quality processes, procedures and flow charts could be improved.
  • Monitor forms and tools usage, ensure that adequate records are maintained, and provide Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) as required.
  • Audit processes and procedures, the issuance and follow up of NCRs and monitor trends to verify that meaningful corrections and corrective actions are proposed, approved and implemented in a timely manner, to prevent recurrence.

General

  • Provide support to strategic NA project and client pursuits if required.
  • Work optimally with corporate services groups to ensure appropriate support is provided to the improvements in the quality and project management practice.

  • Ensure there is alignment and clarity with the following supporting groups:
    • - PM/CM Business Group (project controls team)
    • - Project Services (financial team)
    • - Tender Review Group (Regional and Federal)
    • - Global Delivery Strategy
    • - Provide Leadership to the following regional processes:
    • - PD and PM roster management
    • - PD and PM Project performance assessments
    • - Regional Quality KPIs


Skills and Experience:

  • Competency in translating strategy into workable business plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop high-level management plan and work effectively with other company leaders.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective teams with indirect rather than direct reporting relationships largely through influence; this will require the individual to have a strong reputation and high level of trust/integrity with the business groups across the region.
  • Ability to work under uncertainty and manage risks.
  • Focused on national and regional objectives of achieving strong profitability.
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years of client management and project management experience within a consulting engineering firm.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years' experience of consulting engineering business management exposure in Finance, Marketing, Operations and Project Delivery Systems/Tools.
  • Understanding of Project Controls is a must and portfolio analysis tools are a benefit.
  • Knowledge of engineering industry practices in delivering design engineering packages, project performance benchmarking and earned value management concepts.
  • Strong understanding of project management and quality competencies and skills required within the consulting engineering industry, and experience in developing and delivering training, mentoring and career development programs.
  • Self-starter, highly motivated, and able to lead by example.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills and ability to conduct meetings and presentations
  • Proficiency in using the Microsoft Office Suite and other desktop programs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Minimum 15 years' experience as a Senior Project Management Leader, with experience in a Consulting Engineering firm preferably with engineering design delivery in a variety of markets/sectors with a multitude of delivery execution models (e.g. Consulting assignments, Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build and EPCM projects), and a variety of client types (public, private and Federal sectors).

  • Paid time off - Our PTO benefit is designed to provide eligible employees with a period of rest and relaxation, sick, and personal time throughout the year. PTO starts at 16 days per year and increases with years of service
  • Holiday Pay - Holiday pay is provided for eligible employees. GHD observes 9 holidays per year. Holiday pay will be based on the regular set schedule for the employee
  • Wellness Benefit- Regular full-term employees are eligible to participate in the wellness reimbursement program. GHD will reimburse 50% of the cost of the following to maximum of $250.00 reimbursement annually for such items as: Health club membership fees, Home exercise equipment purchases, Bicycles, Race, run & marathon entrance fees, Smoking cessation programs, Weight loss programs (i.e.-Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig), Fitbits and Fitness Tracking devices
Salary Range: $175,000- $287,000 based on experience.
