Material Handler Responsibilities: We are looking for a Material Handler to fill an opening immediately in Brewton, Alabama. The qualified Material Handler position is a team level member who is responsible for handling, moving, and storing raw and manufactured materials, as well as loading and unloading materials from delivery trucks. The Material Handler will report to the Shipping Lead.

  • Load and unload incoming and outgoing materials and products
  • Move materials to and from the loading docks, delivery trucks, ques, manufacturing areas, and inventory shelves.
  • Identify and label materials, documents weights and dimensions, and record their locations in the warehouse and on shelves to maintain inventory
  • Prepare finished products for shipments by identifying their location, then pulling, packing, and loading them.
  • Operate material dollies, pallet jacks, overhead cranes, 3k up to 10k forklifts, and cherry pickers
  • Maintains material handling equipment by completing pre-use inspections and making minor repairs or reporting major issues or repairs to manager.
  • Follow production schedule to ensure orderly production and distribution of products and parts by pulling orders from inventory, delivering production materials and supplies where needed, and staging finished products final distribution
  • Maintain a safe and orderly operation of stock and or materials storage areas
  • Keeps inventory, loading areas, and machinery clean
  • Learns and adheres to workplace safety regulations.

Requirements: The Material Handler should preferably possess a high school diploma or GED. The Material Handler should preferably possess 1-5 years’ experience using in operating material handling equipment. At least 1 year of experience in Manufacturing or Warehouse setting. The Material Handler must have basic math skills with the ability to read, write and understand the English language. A successful candidate must also be able to successfully interface with a computer to access manufacturing shop floor control system. The Material Handler must be able to perform essential job requirements as identified in the Functional Job Description for this position, including the ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted, work in variable temperature conditions, walking on hard surface, standing continuously, and repetitive use of hands/manual dexterity. The Material Handler should possess the ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, organize and prioritize job tasks to aid in satisfying customer requirements. The Material Handler should have excellent time management, attention to detail and organizational skills. The ideal candidate must also have strong attendance and possess the ability to work overtime as needed.
