We have an excellent opportunity for a Senior HVAC/Plumbing Mechanical Engineer in one of our California offices. This is a unique opportunity for a senior level individual to join a large, well-established organization with a culture that promotes teamwork, integrity, and respect. You will work closely with our highly skilled multi-disciplinary teams throughout the organization and our clients to efficiently deliver projects and provide high value consultancy services.

Located within our Engineering Design Organization, this position offers a unique opportunity to work on diverse projects, collaborate with talented professionals, and make a significant impact to our organization and the communities we serve. Some key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Technical Guidance and Project Oversight: Providing expertise and guidance on various engineering projects, with a focus on heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, building plumbing systems, energy management systems (EMS), and more.
  • Design Delivery: Overseeing and leading the production of complex engineering designs, drawings, details, reports, and specifications.
  • Project Scope and Schedule Management: Assisting project managers in developing and managing project scopes, schedules, budgets, and quality documents. Your expertise will contribute to effective project planning and execution.
  • Leadership: Leading and supporting cohesive project teams, including subconsultants, to achieve project objectives, promoting collaboration, and creating a positive work environment.
  • Coaching and Mentoring: Playing a crucial role in coaching and mentoring junior level staff, helping develop their skills and knowledge.
  • Community and Professional Engagement: Actively engaging in community and professional organizations, representing our company and staying current with industry trends.
  • Client Relationship Management: Actively participating in client relationship management and attending client meetings as needed.
  • Business Development: Supporting Senior Project Managers with business development on behalf of GHD, position for new work and secure projects.

The ideal candidate would have the following skills:

  • Experience in heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, building plumbing systems, and energy management systems (EMS). Gas transmission and distribution systems experience is a plus.
  • Experience working in multi-discipline teams - e.g. Architects, Civil, Structural, Electrical, and Fire Protection engineers.
  • Experience supporting all stages of the project, including preparing project scope and fee proposals, writing feasibility studies, preparing basis of design reports, consulting, developing detailed design drawings and specifications, developing budgetary construction cost estimates, and providing bid and construction support.
  • Strong foundation and proficiency across multiple software design platforms, including familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, HAP and EnergyPro.
  • Experience and familiarity with state of California and International Codes.
  • Experience with the LEED building certification system is desired.
  • Experience with delivering federal government projects is a plus.
  • Ability to support and grow relationships/business within GHD's US West Region.
  • Ability to support project/client proposals and participate in interviews as needed.
  • Capability to provide mentorship to staff within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team environment. Collaboration and knowledge sharing with peers and internal consulting on technical aspects of the discipline.
  • Proven professional judgement, including identifying, assessing, evaluating and solving problems.
  • Robust written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to concisely convey complex issues.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • California Mechanical Engineering (ME) license required, or ability to obtain within 6 months. Other state engineering registrations may be considered.
  • 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience in consulting on commercial, educational, City, State and Federal facilities.

Salary Range: $138,000-$207,00
