Job Summary

We're seeking an experienced Data Science Team Lead to guide our data science efforts within the drilling and completions domain. This role is integral to optimizing our operations through data-driven insights and leading a team of talented data scientists and analysts. You will play a key role in ensuring our data strategies are executed effectively, driving continuous improvement in our drilling and completions processes.

This role is based out of our Houston Corporate office and may work two (2) days a week remote.

Responsibilities


  • Lead and mentor a team of data scientists, ensuring tasks are aligned with project goals and completed on time. Ensure that data-driven projects are executed efficiently by setting clear priorities and managing resources effectively.
  • Analyze and interpret large datasets from drilling and completions operations to identify trends and optimization opportunities.
  • Develop predictive models and algorithms to enhance decision-making in drilling and completions, improving efficiency and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate advanced data science techniques into workflows, driving innovation in operations and to align data-driven solutions with operational goals.
  • Oversee the design and management of robust data pipelines, ensuring accuracy and reliability in data processing.
  • Develop and oversee the creation of data visualizations and reports that communicate key insights to decision-makers, supporting data-driven decisions. Monitor performance through advanced analytics, providing timely reports and visualizations to key stakeholders.
  • Drive the adoption of emerging technologies, ensuring real-time insights and continuous improvement in drilling and completions.
  • Translate complex data insights into actionable recommendations for both technical and non-technical team members.
  • Manage and maintain Robotic Process Automation (RPA) systems to enhance efficiency utilizing tools such as Microsoft Power Suite, including PowerApps and Power Automate, for data management and process automation.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Computer Science, Data Science or related technical field, with a minimum of 10 years of experience
  • Proven leadership skills, with experience in managing and mentoring a team of data scientists
  • Proficiency in data engineering, with expertise in SQL, Oracle, Python, and/and R. Experience with HTML, JSON or API programming languages
  • Experience with data processing platforms such as Databricks is essential
  • Software Stack - Wellview, OSI PI, Canary
  • Strong background in ETL processes, data pipelines, and database management, with experience in Power Automate and SCADA systems, including live data streaming and protocols like Modbus
  • Solid understanding of cloud platforms like Azure, Amazon Athena, AWS S3, and SFTP
  • Competence in data visualization and reporting using tools like Power BI and/or Spotfire to create insightful and actionable visual data representations
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of translating complex data insights into clear, actionable recommendations

The individual is required to follow all applicable safety precautions. Work is performed almost entirely in a controlled (i.e., inside) environment and does not typically subject the incumbent to any hazardous/extreme elements; some positions may require regularly moving or transporting items weighing up to 25 lbs. around the office for various needs. The successful candidate must be able to complete all essential physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
