A full-time science communication specialist will be hired from Clemson's Climate Smart Forestry (CSF) extension project to work with Southeast Climate Hub scientists and collaborating natural resource extension specialists from other southeastern U.S. land-grant universities. The overall objective of the position is to promote climate-informed decision-making and increase access to CSF knowledge and decision support tools. Other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
35% - Essential: Conduct systematic and targeted literature reviews, and meta-analyses on climate-forestry nexus to produce peer-review manuscripts and whitepapers.
35% - Essential: Translate leading research on climate-forest science to white papers, and other Extension toolkits (factsheets, presentations, and guidebooks).
10% - Essential: Coordinate work with external partners and stakeholders, including USDA Forest Service, state agencies, non-profits, and landowner associations to contribute toward a climate-smart forestry curriculum for the southern region.
10% - Essential: Update and maintain a hub of shared documents, databases, and resources for the project team.
10% - Essential: Review and run climate impact assessment tools, software, and decision-support systems for assessing environmental, and socio-economic implications of climate change mitigation and adaptation alternatives in the southern region.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: 1st Master's Degree - Forestry, agricultural education, ecological sciences, or similar. Work Experience: 1+ years - Literature review and synthesizing published research for training both scientific and non-scientific audiences; enthusiasm for producing written management guides, factsheets, extension publications, and presentation material

Education: 1st Doctoral / Professional Degree - Forestry, agricultural education, ecological sciences, or similar Work Experience: 3+ years - Systematic literature review experience strong written communication skills, and the ability to produce high-quality written materials that are ready for use by natural resource professionals.
