Foundry Employee Level 2 – Molding

OVERVIEW:

This role involves a range of responsibilities centered on safety, efficiency, and quality within the molding process. Employees must adhere to safety protocols, including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE) and following GIW Safety Guidelines. Tasks include operating and calibrating various machinery, preparing molds, and ensuring all job requirements meet the Molding Level 1 standards. Strong mechanical aptitude is necessary to rig, inspect, and apply mold wash, while physical demands include frequent lifting and movement.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Safety and Quality Leadership:

  • Wear all PPE required and adhere to GIW Safety Guidelines.
  • Keep the work area neat, clean, and safe to maintain a secure environment.
  • Document daily inspection forms on Grove to ensure compliance with safety standards.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Promote teamwork by communicating and collaborating with colleagues during mold preparation and calibration processes.
  • Provide support in understanding and applying safe rigging methods while flipping and blocking up molds.

Decision-Making and Initiative:

  • Make informed decisions when calibrating the olivine mixer and C blender, including adjusting for sand, resin, and acid mixtures.
  • Utilize riser heights and core making knowledge to contribute to effective mold building.

Planning and Coordination:

  • Coordinate mold preparation tasks, including using small core boxes, ceramic tubing cutting, and pattern handling.
  • Organize the rigging and movement of flasks and cores, ensuring they are safely transported in and out of the building.

Inventory and Asset Management:

  • Properly fill flow coat mixing vessels and manage chemicals added to bl

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or GED

Physical Requirements:

Frequently:

  • Standing, walking, sitting, bending, squatting, stooping
  • Lifting, pushing, and pulling <75 lbs.

Occasionally:

  • Overhead work
  • Climbing ladders or stairs
  • Driving forklifts
  • Operating cranes
